Moses up In the sixth Inning for four
hits, one being a double, scoring
three runs on him and cinching yes
terday’s game. Up to this time Moses
had allowed but two hits with a two
run lead. In the eighth inning an
other run was scored on t 'o hit* and
an error. Cheney was al ittle wild in
the first part of the game, but in the
last few stanzas he was going like a
house on fire. The hitting of Handi
boe was the feature of the game.

Athletics Raise Flag.
Philadelphia.— While thunder en
deavored to drown out the music of
the bands the world’s championship
flag which the Philadelphia Ameri
cans won last fall was raised yester
day at Bblbe Park. Through minia
ture lakes and ankle-deep mud the
visiting St. Louts American and the
Athletics paraded the field and dur
ing the momentary let-up in the thun
dershowers the pennant was hoisted.
Change in Vanltie.
Newport, R. I,—The cup yacht Van
itie will undergo changes to her spars
that will increase her speed several
seconds a mile. An aluminum gaff
and club will be slung on the Coch
ran sloop today if the contest with the
two other cup yachts is finished early
enough. Defiance and Vanitie re
mained at theirmo orings all yester
day, but Resolute went out for a 20-
minute spin up Naragansett Bay. The
race today will be over a 30-mile
windward and leeward course.
Foul Unintentional.
Ntw York. —Joe Jeanette, the Hobo
ken' heavyweight, fell to the floor of
the ring after, being rouied in the
first round of his 10-round bout with
Jim Johnson, of Philadelphia, here
last night, but ht came back and
outpointed Johnson before the final
bell. The referee decided Johnson's
foul was unintentional.
Dtfy Commission.
New York. —In a statement assert
ing that the National Baseball Com
mission has violated the so-called
Cincinnati agreement relating to the
release of players to leagues of lower
classification, the baaeball players’
fraternity, last night virtually defied
the commission In the case of Clar
ence O. Kraft, ordered by the commis
sion to the Nashville club of the
Southern League, but advised by the
fraternity to play with the Newark
Internationals. Newark is in a cir
cuit rated higher than the Southern
League and Kraft’s salary will be
higher is he plays with Newark.
Kraft .drafted last fall by Brooklyn
from New Orleans was sent this sea
son to Boston under the waiver rule.
Boston In turn, planning to send
KraTt to Rochester, asked waivers,
and Brooklyn took him back and sent
him to Newark. Nashville, In the
snme league with New Orleans, claim
ed Kraft before February Ist, and
subsequently protested to the Nation
al Commission against Brooklyn send
ing him to Newark. The commission
sustained Nashville’s claim. ,
