There were four small fires Sat
urday, but the total damage will not
reach {75. A telephone message
came to headquarters at 9:25 o'clock. I
The fire was at 24 Reynolds street
and was caused by sparks falling on
tin- roof. Tne damage was $lO.
The house was owned by Mrs. Von
Spreckon and occupied by Nellie
Holmes, colored.
About Hi-30 o’clock an alarm came
in from box No. 51. The fire was a
large house at 1110 and 1112 Tutnal
street. The lire was caused by a
detective flue. The damage was
$35 The nouse was owned by Mow
Charlotte Perdue.
llox No. 46 was pulled about 1.20
o’clock. The fire was at Xu. 631-
633 Fenwick street amt the damage
was $2.50. It was the property of
Mr. Austin Branch and was occupied
by Willie Coiiio, colored.
A lew minutes after the alarm

pulled. The 'ire was caused .y a
matress on tin- at No 15 Warhury
street. The house was owned and
occupied by Jacob Battey, colored.

Mr. L. M. Richardson, of McGee,
Miss, is In the city looking for Ms
son, S. Luke Richardson alias Har
ry Matthewa who ran away from
home about 2 years ago.
The father and his son had a quar
rel one morning and the boy seemed
to take it to heart and the next day
he was missing. Mr. Richardson
has sponl the intervening time hunt
ing for him. lie recently learned
thal ne was in Augusta ar.d came
to the city In quest of him. He has
been in the city since Thursday, but
will leave for his homo Saturday
night.
Mr. Richardson will appreciate it
if anyone who knows anything about
the boy will communicate with him
at his home in Mississippi.

WASHINGTON.— Marked Improve
merit la shown by the movements of
Internal commerce during the month
of August, according to the report of
the bureau of statistics of the depart
tnent of commerce and labor which Is
issued today. There is considerable
heavier live stock movement com
pared with the preceding monlhs of
the year. An improvement Is also
shown in the freight car situation,
practically all the associations show
Ing Increased traffic. Grain also
shows heavier movements and coal
and lumber are still other commodi
ties which Indicate Improvement of
conditions. •
Taking the month of August as an
Index, It will mean that a steady Im
