RAIL ROAD BRIDGE BURNED
Last night, the North bound
passenger train being late arrived
at Clovordale bridge about dark,
the engineer looking ahead discov
ered the bridge on fire and stopped
his train, but afterjexamination the
train was run across safely, and the
•tire reported. While the bridge is
' not entirely consumed, all trains
are blockaded, and It. will probably
be Saturday evening before the re
paid s are completed so as to allow
trains to run over the bridge. No
cause is assingod to the burning
but as all the engines on tho A. G,
S. R, 11, are provided with the host
and la-tos improved spark arresters
it is probably tho bridge was; sot on
fire by some malicious person.

Tt is stated by the Tirm s that
“Major Nichtin and. Dr. id D. Eims
and other members of the local and
State board of health’' after inves
tigation was satisfied that the party
who died at Wildwood had no
avsmptons of yellow fever whatever
but died with a case of malarial
lever caused by exposure. How
the aboved named gentlemen were
enabled to arrive at such a uetini te
conclusion, we are unable to say, as
the gentlemen belong to that class
who “scont the battle.afar oft”’and
have not made ;heir investigation
from a knowledge which they
might have obtained had they vis
ited the locality in which the case
was reported. Dr, Keakins appli
ed to the Chattanooga authorities,
for a consulting physicians for the
purpose of determining whether or
not it was a genuine ease of yellow
foyer, but Chattanooga preferod
making up her opinion from facts
obtained in Chattanooga,anti troin
what old women said of the case —
the old woman said it was malarial
and of-course it was malaria!, so
far as Chattanooga wanted to know.
Chattanooga does not want ‘ ma
