Mobile, Ala., June 18.—A se
rious difficulty in one of the com
panies of the First Alabama reg
iment has come to a head, and
though officially guarded, the
facts thereof leaked out todav.
'I he Huntsville company,
Capt. li. L. Hay commanding,
recently refused to drill because
they claimed they were not
properly, fed. An investigation
showed that five day’s rations
had been issued the men. The}
consumed them in one day.
Capt. Hay was called to account .
by Col. Higdon, who warned
him that such a thing must uqi
occur again. It did occur again,
and it was after the second in
stance of wasted ratioi,s when
the company refused to go cn
the drill field.
