STRUCK IT RICH.
THREE MINERS MAKE NEARLY sl,C’oo
IN TWO WEEKS IN LUMPKIN.
Dahlonega, Ga , January 30
Last Saturday afternoon, Floyd
Jackson, Beu Ha'fb'ld, i d Bob
Howell cleaned up a two weeks
work on ora from the Yahoola
mine. They were rewarded with a]
take-up of 989 pennyweights of
refined gold. This was made by
the gentlemen named above with
no expense but their own labor.
There is enough gold in Lumpkin
county to pay the national debt if
it was only dug out.
And if our boys only knew
where te dig, we would all be mil
lionairs in a short time, and every
blessed one of us would be kick
ing against income tax.
FOUGHT THE MARSHAL.
Exciting Times on the Streets
OF OLD DAHLOHEGA.
Dahlonega, Ga. January 30. —
Quite a serious fight occurcd
here yesterday about sundown.
Fayett Carterand John Brooksher
started adifliculty with Ci*y Mar
shal Anderson and undertook to
do him up.
Carter and Anderson were in a
scuffle and Brooksher undertook
to help Carter out by violently
throwing stones at the mirshal
until with a large rock he dealt
Mr. Anderson a stinging blow on
the cheek.
Mr Anderson then drew hi« pis
tol aud fired at Brooksher. Thd
ball took effect in one thigh. Mar
shal Anderson gave Carter several
goad blows across the head with
his pistol before the difficulty was
stopped.
Brooksher was taken to Dr. H
C. Whelcbel's office, where the ball
was extracted by Dis. Whetche 1
anfi Stow. The wounds are said to
be not dangerous. City Marshal
Anderson has a large lump on his
cheek where he was hit with tht
rock
Carter aud Brooksher are both
hard cases but when they run afoul
of marshal Anderson they struck
b»d rock with plenty of paying
grit on it.
