CRAZED BY CIGARETTES.

Leads to Jail.
New York, Sept. 10. —William
Schneider, aged 21 years, of Wil
'iamsburgh. was accused of assault
by his sister, Elizabeth, in Police
Court to-day.
“For many years,” Miss Sohn i
der said, “my brother lias been an
inveterate cigarette fiend, and
mother and I have tried our best
to make him stop it.
A month ago he began to act as
if there was something the matter
with his head. He said foolish
tilings and’craved for cigarettes.
He declared that cigarettes were
following him wherever he went.
Then he became violent and tried
to kill mother with an ax, and
then to kill me.” The Justice com
mitted Schneider to jail to have
his sanity inquired into.

Foor Negro Draymen are Arrested
on the Above Charges.
This morning Mr. Al Burney of
the Burney Transfer Company, had
warrants sworn out against Henry
and Will Sanford, Will Fain and
“Squire” Richardson, charging
them with high-way robery.
It seems that last night a lady
came in over the E. T. V. &G.
and giving Will Sanford a trunk
check, wanted him] to bring her
and the baggage both in his hack.
Henry Sanford told him that he
better not do so or they would
make a case against him.
The negro took the trunk out of
the hack and asked Henry to bring
it over.

One of Mr Burney’s transfer
