scalded in » datb tub, into which
he was pushed by an angered fellow
patient Jones was 62 years old, and
was a respected citizen of Wood
stocK uutil a few years ago, whom
his mind fai’.d him. ‘On Thursday
Mr. Jones was in the bathroom of
the hosptal, and got iuto a dispute
with a young man named Magruder
and the latter plunged him into a
dath tuEtbat had been filled with
boiling water.
The suffering man yelled lustily,
and the floor attendant rushing to
the rescue relieved the old gentle
man, not, however, before he had
been fearfully scalded about the
neck and over the back. Every at.
tention was given Mr. Jones by
the hospital physicians, but his
condition was beyond the aid of
human efforts.
The widow of the deceased and
his son, C. W. Jones, were at once
summoned, and were in Staunton
today when the body was tempora
rily buried.
The deceased was the father of
8 x children.lt was while defending
Mr. Jones in the case wherein the
question of his sanity was at issue
that the late United States Senator
Kiddleberger refused to obey an
order of Court, and was sent to jail
for c< tempt. This occurred shortly
before Mr. Riddlebarger’s retire
ment from the Senate, and created
a grtet sens', tion.
