notified Minister Dun, at Tokio,
aid Minister Denby, at Peking,
to transmit such direct offer as
China may wish to make Japan.
As the cable directions were sent

yet elapsed to determine whether
China will consent to make the
offer direct and definite, as Ja
pan insists must be done. Ti e

torpedo on leaving Wei-Hai-Wci,
on the 18th. instant, and was
beached, and i« now useless, Com

Si Perkins, Attraction Monday 26.
Springfield Republican—The in
itial production of “Si Perkins 1 ’
the West Virginia comedy drama
will appear tonight at the Baldwin
theater. The play has played to
good business during the entire
season and this fact alone would
testify as to its being a first-cGss
attraction as many good compa
nies have been compelled to dis
band on account of poor business.
The clever specialties which are
worked into the plot of the play
make it amusing entertaining and
serious. The Pughtown band and
orchestra which accompanies the
attraction is composed of musi
cians of ability.
