DIED,
On the evening of the 4tli of November, in.t . at the
residence of Mr Wm. J. Eve. nu the Sand Hill*, near Au
gusta Mrs. Sabah D. Eve. consort of Mr. John I*. Eve.
and daughter of the late Mr. John Carmichael, in the
47 tli year of her age.
‘ Ilcr sun hit* gone down while it was yet noon, slid
while the Christian, the wife and mother, bid fair for
many years to perform faithfully the most sacred of-
Noes’of woman's mission. She consecrated her youth
and womanhood to tiod. having been a member of the
Presbyterian church lor 25 years, and during that long
period, she pursued her Christian course in humble re
liance upon flivine strength
Cheerfully from her home—now so desolate to be
reaved hearts—did she extend the warm greeting of as
section to her numerous relatives and friends. The
stranger, too shared her generous hospitality, and while
she delighted “to do good, and to communicate’* to all.
she particularly exercised acts of ltindness and benevo
lence to her domestics and the poor, ‘-the little oues" of
Christ's kingdom Against whom many offend.
Several months since she was prostrated u))on a hod of
languishing Although long cheered by the hope of re
covery. a- her disease was seldom considered by herself
or others the messenger of death ; yet. when the desired
blessing came not. she was quick to perceive her Mas
ter's approach, and “went forth to meet him. with her
lamp trimmed and her light burning She knew her
mansion was prepared in her Father's house, and she
was willing to depart and he with Christ
It was the privilege or those who stood around her
couch of suffering, to gather her dying words of prayer
and praise as pearls from the river of death. VV lien
disease had withdrawn her in some measure from out
ward associations. sin* was in constant communion with
her God. and sank into her last sleep, a trusting child
upon the bosom of her Father.
“There remaineth, therefore, a rest for the people of
God." » ■' 11

Augusta Market. Nov. 26.
COTTON.—Our last weekly rev iew left the close of our
market with the remark, that "were a lot of 50 to 100 1
hales, strictly Fair put on the market, it would readily
bring 7| cents/* On Wednesday morning the market
opeued with a fair demand at the prices quoted hv us
and the sales made during the day were without change
* up to the afternoon, when the steamer Africa's news
i came to hand, noticing an improvement in the Liverpool
market of on the lower grades. On Thursday morn- >
ing, there was a good demand at an improvement of Ja «
jc. on all qualities* in this market, and all offered met
with ready sale at the above advance. On Friday, the
j market remained much the same, and all offered met
j with ready buyers at full rates. On Saturday, the mar
ket gave way about J cent, in consequence of an advance
of Freights in Savannah, and the advance in the Charles
ton and New York markets not corresponding with that
in our own. In this state our market closed on Satur-
I day evening, dull. On Monday morning, our merchants
were in possession of the steamer Atlantic's advices,
1 which gave a further advance in the Liverpool market
of |d. This gave more confidence to buyers, and during
Monday there was an active demand at prices ranging
as follows: for Middling Fair 8, for Fair SJ. and some
small parcels of Fully Fair were disposed of at 8$ cents —
which was |a j cent over Saturday's prices. On Monday
evening the Asia's news came to hand, per telegraph’
but they were so unsatisfactory to our merchants, that
they, in a measure withdrew from the market, and up to
the close of our enquiries (Tuesday, 2. P. M.) there was
little or no business done, buyers refusing to purchase,
and holders not offering the stocks. In this state our
m irket closed up to their above mentioued hour, and we
omit quotations, as they may mislead. All parties,
when we closed our enquiries, were anxiously awaiting
further particulars per steamer A*\n.. The receipts at
this point continue to be very limited for the season of
the year. That coming to hand by wagons meets with
ready sale at full prices.

GROCERIES —Our merchant* now have on hand a
large and well selected stock of goods, which they are
willing to sell on very reasonable terms for rash, and if
merchants in tho interior or planters have this io'sos
„ try article, cash, at tiie present tiino on hand, they ean
do as well, if not better with it in this market, than
were they to visit New York or Charleston. A cash cus
tomer can, we believe, do better in either place, at the
present time, than lie could do for the past six month*,
but the difference in hi* fas or. in purchasing in tho
Augusta market would be, he can save freight, a very
important item.
COHN The demand in at present limited to city
wants, and sales are making by tho small quantity, at
prices varying from 80 to 85 cents, according to q lali
ty and quantity. We have heard of the sale of some
3 to 4060 bushels, to lie delivered betweou this time and
February, at the Georgia Rail Road Depot, at 75 i cuts
per kusliel. Scad Oats are iu demand at 60 a62 e nts.
Soa.t Rye is dull us sale at *1 for Northern and f 1 a
*1.12 for Georgia. Cow Peas aro wortli 75 oeuU per
bushel.
BACON. —Tho supply on bund in light, but tho demand
is limited, and prices still have a downward tendency.
We now quote sound sides at 11 a 12 cents, at which
prices they can lie purchased according to quantity.
MOLASSES. There is a good demand for Cuba, which
at tho present time is scarce, and sales are making by
the bbi. or lihd. at prices ranging from 23 to 27 cents.
New Orleans is worth from 33 to 40 cents, according to
quality, in a few days, our market will lie well supplied
with Culm, as there is an abundant supply on tin* river.
HALT. Tiie supply on hand is still light, and sales
continue to be made at *1,25 per sack from store by the
small quantity. Tho rivor, however, Is now up and sup
plies are daily looked for. Wo understand a sale has
been made this week of about 600 bags, to arrive, from
wharf, at *1.20 per sack, which is about equal to *1.25
from store.
FREIGHT*. —The River is now in goosl boating or
der. There is more down freight offering to Savannah.
Wo have no change to notice in rates, which continue
50 cents per bale Cotton to Savannah, and *1 pur halo to
Charleston per Hail Road.
LARI). The stock of Laid is on the increase. We
quote 10j a 11J cents.
COFFEE. —The stock on hand is on the increase, but
fully equal to demand. Wo quoto Kid 9 alO cents—
principal sales by the small quantity, at 9} a 9] cents
SUGARS. —Good stock on hand—no chango to notice
in prices. Our quotations will give a fair index of prices.
RAGGING —There is but little enquiry for this arti
cle. Wo quoto Gunny at 14 aHi from stores l>y the
bale or piece. Most holders ask the latter prico for piece,
WHEAT. We still quote good Red at 90 a sl.
White is scarce. Our City Mills, however, are well sup
plied with Virginia and Maryland, and are kept busy in
grinding.
FLOUR—There is a good demand for City Mills.
We now quoto for white Wheat 6i to *"i per bbl.
as in quality, and for red at 5J a6. There is a good
supply of Northern and country on hand, but tho de
mand for these descriptions is limited.
EXCHANGE. —AVe have no chango to notice in the
rates for Northern Exchange, which continue at J per
cent. prem. for Sight Checks on New-York and other
Northern cities. On Charleston and Savannah our
Banks are drawing at par.
