Haight & Chambers’ Circus. —We
cannot, in justice to the Company, re--
train from noticing some the most ad
mirable performances of the Collos
sal Circ-us that visited us on the 2nd
instant. The entree was grand and the
riding superb. W. B. Carroll, in his
daring act of horsemanship, with his
little son, riding in beautlfull and artis
tic postures, even to standing erect on
his father’s head, with the horse at full
speed, were unsurpassed' feats.

ing grace and skill characterized her
every act.
La Petite Louise, on the slack wire,
was truly wonderful. We have never
Seen her performances equaled.
The springboard and vaulting, togeth
er with the posturing and tumbling,
cannot but elicit the applause and admi
ration of all who witnessed those per
formances. The company comprises
the best artists that the country affords,
and should they again visit our city
they would realize the fact that they
are fully appreciated.
Further we are informed, by an old
citizen, that in all the circuses visiting
this city there has never appeared in a
pavilion here so large, and intelligent
and fashionable audience as that filling
it to Witness the night performances on
Tuesday last The proprietor, actors
ami attaches were gentlemen and so ac
quitted themselves.

Bat.ttmore, Oct. 11 th—There are
heavy floods in all the streams, and
there hits been considerable damage
and loss of life. A number Os mill
dams and bridges are carried away.
OHIO GOES LARGELY RADICAL.
Cincinnati, Oct. 11.—Returns from
45 counties give a Radical majority of
45,100. The remaining 43 counties will
probably reduce the majority to 45,-
000. Gen. Morgan, (Dern.) is elected
to Congress in the 13th District.
SENSATION DISPATCH—ITS EF
FECT-HEAVY RAIN.
Washington, Get. If.—A dispatch
anpearod in the Philadelphia Ledger
this morning dated Washington, an
nouncing that the President had pro
pounded certain interrogatories to the
Attorney General, restricting the 'consti
tutionality of Congress, and that an
opinion in writing would be given
against tlie legality of that body. The
dispatch caused a great sensation, the
effect being felt quite seriously in mer
cantile circles. Owing to its influence
