made, if our citizens don’t keep cool, nor
have cool water to drink these days, lor our
friend Jksse Hardy, can supply them with
any quantity of Ice. We expect to hear a good
deal of cool treatment on the part of our cit

hope the coolness will be very agreeable.

The Result. —After several days tedious

Poisoned With Ice Cream.—Five at

been manufactured in a copper freezer. It

New Flour. —Several Editors are luxuria

as yet, seen any in this section. Has any of
our merchants received any ? If so, send a*

this important matter.
Erroneous.—Some how ov other,
the report lias gone out that we do not
require money to carry on our busi

which payments arc coming in, we
are rather inclined to think our friends
believe the report. This is all a mis
take. The wonder to us is, how we are
able to keep up at all. Our patrons
will please, bear in mind that we would

and enquire how much they are owing,

Good Advice to Mechanics and
Laborers. —A Northern exchange ad
vises every mechanic and laborer to
buy a house and lot in or beyond
the suburbs of a town or city—if
possible an acre. It says if the spot
is not inviting it may be made so by
trees, slirubberry, [and cultivation.—
The paper from which we quote says:
Secure the land, and your credit
will at once be raised fifty per cent.
A mechanic living on rent throws
away qll the improvements lie may
make, lie accumulates little or no
capital around )iim.()Oii, the other
hand, when he has a home he can call
his own, everything he does counts
something. All his labors cluster. —
lie lias a homo of his own and it is
iiis pride and pleasure to adorn it to
the best of hie ability.
This is capital advice, and we would
earnestly commend it to the favorable
consideration of the mechanics of
Americus.
