Avery laughable incident, says tha
Marysville (Gal.) Appeal, occurred at
one of the photograph galleries in this
city, the lOth ult: • -
A country gentleman went into get
his two hoys taken. In order to have
the boys properly prepared, he asked for
a basin oi water to wash their faces.—
The artist informed the customer that he
would find a wash dish in the other room,
and he retired and gave both beys a
chan wash. After the picture were ta
ken it was noticed that the lads begat to
grow black in the face, and coutiuued to
gtt blacker and blacker. The true state
of the case immediately occnrred to the
operator the boys had washed their
laces in the wrong dish, a basin of c ! einr
icals prepared for pictures. There was
no remedy then for the accident. The
silver wash was turning the facc3 of the
boys blacker auclblacker, and there was
no other way than to let the chemicals
perfect the work. The got,t! man kft

Fashions.—Hera is what the JPica

The ladies were out in their bright
j colors, as ‘soft as their clime, and sunny
j as their skies.’
By the way, how becoming the sh

i Since they have curtailed the number
; of yards in their skirts; and contracted
I their elipticals, they have less the appear
ance of artificial monstrosities. They
j look dow more like they were the de

1 They dont look as much like an inverted
ballroom drifting down the street as they
used to. They now have some shape,
and have less the appearance of having
been blown through a millinery shop by
a hurricann than some time back. We
have often wondered how creatures so
pretty could mgke themselves appear so
frifihful. One thing yet remains to be
done, and that is to contract the sizo of
their waterfalls, sod giva their beede *
fair showing.
