Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry
The benefitjal effect* of this remedial comp«>si
lion are astonishing to the world, and make it one
of the most popular medicines now known. For
Coughs, Colds, and Consumptive cases. Lie curative
power* are established by numerous testimonials
of the highest character. In the first stages of the
disease, termed “Catarrhal Consumption,” origi
nating front neglected Colds, it has been used with
undeviating success, and hundreds acknowledge
they owe the restoration of their health to this in
valuable medicine.
f Front (he Cincinnati Daily Times of May 20.]
Wis ass Balsam of W ild Cherry
We would ad vine our readers who are laboring
under an affection of the lungs, to make immedi
ate trial of this truly excellent medicine. The
most intelligent, and respectable families of our city
have adopted it as a favorite family medicine; and
persons predisposed to Consumption, who have
used it.speak in the highest terms of it* efficacy.
Scores of individuals have been cured of Asth
ma, the early stages of Consumption, Bleeding of
the Lungs, obstinate coughs, etc., by this Balsam,
after hope had well nigh yielded to despair. We
say this in all candor. It is indeed a melancholy
truth that thousands fail victims to Consumption
every year, from no other cause than neglected
Colds; yet we find hundreds, nay thousands, who
treat such complaints with the greatest indiffer
ence, and let them run on for weeks, and even
months, without thinking of ihe danger.

CHARLESTON, OCTOBER 23.— Cotton.— j
The operations in Cotton since our last have been
heavy, as the aggregate transactions reach 7900
bales. There were very few purchasers in attend
ance at the opening of the market on Saturday.
The Caledonia’s advices had but just come to
hand, and although buyers were anxious to know
the effect upon the market, were unwilling to •
make the first move; but as the day advanced one j
or two parties were induced to take hold of the ar
ticle, in consequence of the favorable terms offer
ed, and some 1500 Stales were sold, a large portion I
by one house at a reduction of an jc. per lb.; since
w hich time, however, buyers have not been ab!e
to operate on similar terms. During the last two
days 6274 bales changed hands, and the market
closed yesterday at the current prices given in our
report of the 24th inst. ’The sales comprise 48
bales at 8, 11 at Br, 54 at Bf, 297 ut 9, 250 at 9f
225 at 9 3-16. 1348 at 94, 434 at 9 5 16, 1115 at 94
3857 at 91, 12 at 9 9-IG, 269 at 91, 52 at 91, and 3J
bales at 10.
MOBILE, Oct. 24.— Cotton. —The receipts of
the week are 479 bales, the exports 250, and the
stock in hand and on shipboard is 791 ] bales. For
the corresponding week last season the receipts
were 8930 bales, and the stock ou hand was 10,742
bales.
There has been but little done in the cotton mar
ket the past week. The stock on sale has been so j
light that buyers have found it impossible to exe
cute their orders, and they have manifested an in
disposition to take what was offering, unless at
some slight concession. The transactions are to
the extent only of about 500 hales, in qualities !
ranging from middling fair at 94 a 91c. to fair at I
10c. which it w ill he perceived is a slight reduc
tion from the rates of last week. Tlie market
closes quietly, both parties awaiting ihe foreign
advices by the Great Britain, now several days
past due at New York. The Caledonia at Boston,
with Liverpool dates to the 4th, was due on the
18th or 48lh, and her accounts may he expected in
the early part of the ensuing week. Until these
are received it is not likely that the present aspect
of the market will be changed.
'Plte weather continues remarkably favorable for
the ingathering of the crop, so that what has been
left by the insects will be secured. —Merchants 1
