-----
TO THE PEOPLE OF LINCOLN
COUNTY:
Having disposed of a half interest in
the Lincoln! ox News to Mr. L. L.
Chapman, of Washington, Ga., a
thorough business, and newspaper J
man, I have deemed it best for your \
interest, and the interest of your
ty paper to place him in full control
of the paj>er, accompanying satiVfied from the him, reconi- that J
mendations
he can much better subserve the c jun
ty’a interest in tbe management of the
paper than myself. He assumes tbe j
control with the firm determination of.
doing everything in his power to;
boom tbe interest of the county and
your county site, and with your aid
and assistance proposes to give you a
county paper second to none in Geor¬
gia. I bespeak for him from you, a
liberal patronage in the way of sub¬
scriptions to the paper, and prompt
payment of the eatne. With many
thanks for your kind indulgence to¬
wards myself, in the past I make my
r airing bow and am fellow citizens.
Yours Most Respectfully,
T. II. Rx.vsex.

Sick headache is the bane of many
lives. To cure and prevent this annoy¬
ing complaint use Dr. J. II. McLeans
little Liver and Kidney Pellets. They
are agreeable to take and gentle in
their action. 25 cents a vial.
The great question lias changed
from “who struck Billy Paterson” to,
“who pulled Billy Chandler's ear?”
The prospects are that the A. & C.
will reach our town within the next
ten or twelve months.
The Oglethorpe Echo wants to
know of its Northern contemporaries,
if that was a Democratic fish pouci
tiiat broke its dam at Johnstown.
The number of souls lost in the
Johnstow n disaster has decreased to
3,000. It is horrible to comtemplale
that even that number were swept
away in such a short space of time.
Hox. Bex Terrell, Lecturer of the
National Alliance, says: “Subscribe
for your county papers. The county
papers ot Georgia are good oues and
deserve an unstinted support at the
hands of the people.”
The graduating class at Emory
college this year number twenty-six
and the total number of students in
actual attendance are 220. The states
are represented as far North as Dele
ware and far West as as the Indian
Territory. The commencement ex¬
ercises are iu progress this week.
Let every farmer apply the
business principles to his farm and
give it his thoughtful and painstaking
attention; every merchant apply the
same rules to his business and every
mechanic to his trade and every pro¬
fessional man adhere rigidly to his
profession and in all th6 vocations
life let strict personal application to
one’s business be applied with econo¬
my, sobriety and thoughtful care, and
superintended with the native intel¬
lect of each, and in live years the fa¬
miliar cry of hard times will not be so
pressing or so true and we will com¬
mence upon an era of peace and plen¬
ty. We can see evidences of this dis¬
position about us and we cannot but
wish it God-speed.
