Thr New York Star calls Wana
maker the Floater Fund Sales Agency
Postmaster General, in an attack on
that officiat’d securing C e World as
one of his allies. It goes on say: Mr.
Wanamaker is welcome to the advoca¬
cy of his new organ. It can no him
no goed anywhere, because the public
throughout the United States agree
with the Nashville American’s opinion
of the World, that no good man wants
its good opinion because no honest
man respects it.
OLIVE BILL AMENDMENTS.
The Atlanta Journal of last Mon¬
day contained the following:
Mr. Olive has in view several amend¬
ments to his hill.
One of these will provide that after
the passage of the bill such railroad
companies as fall under its provisions
shall be given 60,90 or 120 days in
which to readjust themselves so as to
comply with the law and the costitu
tion of the state.
Another will provide that in case
there are no minority stockholders to
readjust the company, as now provided
by the bill, the governor shall appoint
a commission to take charge of the
road, run it as a competing indepen¬
dent line, and act as agents of the
stockholders.
“This” said Mr. Olive ‘‘meets the
views of the railroad combinations
who have demanded a commission.
“Some persons pretend to think” he
said “that the bill practically confis¬
cates the property of these combina¬
tions. There is no Buch provision or
idea in the bill. It seeks the
„ protection of the people of this state
and the minority stockholders of such
combination. We offer the combina¬
tions time to readjust themselves and
place themselves within the law.
This is as much as they could expect
and as little, it seems to me, as the
state can afford to do.”

sacks in sacking their products.
That any merchant or dealer that
aells or offers for sale jute bagging, is
an enemy to the true interest of the
farmer and Alliancemen of our county

on the merchants to order and furnish
their customers with cotton bagging.

Every season since we commenced business under our present firm name
in 1878, we have claimed that our Stock was an improvement on preceding
Seasons, but never has the improvement been so decided or marked as now.
Our Stock of Dry Goods j
and Nivelties for the Spring and Summer of 1889 isV
beyond the reach of Competition in the South, ana we defy New York and
every other market in the U. S. both on prices and elegance of goods.
Without going into detail, we may say that our Stock contains not only eve¬
rything that is novel and fashionable to be found at home and abroad, but we
keep the best line of useful, seasonable goods at moderate prices, in Georgia
or Carolina.
Examination and Comparison will prove beyound dispute—as they have in
the past—the truth cf what we say, and we earnestly ask intending buyers to
apply these never failing tests.
