A Llf't£ ON TUB OCEAN WAVE.
“A Ocean Wave?”
The man wbo wrote it was green ;
He has never been lo sea,
And a wave he never has seen.
He never has seen a wave
A* it dashed over the vessel's deck;
He never has seen a fire at sea,{
Or been floating upon a wreck.
He never has been aroused
From his marning’n gentle doze,
By the sound of the gp'ashtng water,
As it fall from thd.horrid hose.
He never baa heard a man
Scrubbing right ever his head,
With a noise sufficient to rouse
From the grave the slumbering dead.
lie never h&3 seen a fat woman
Growing thinner day by day,
And leaning pver the vessel’s side,
Throwing herself away.
Whllo the people look carefully on ;
Though in tears tbo woman may be,
And unfeelinglysßy it is nothing at all,
Only the roil of the sea.
And oh 1 he has never been sea sick,
And crept into bed in his coat,
While every motion increased bis throes, ,
And hjs feelings in his throat.
. That man may have salled.in a boat,
In some puddle or in a sound,
But if has been to sea, and wrote
Buch a song, he deserve to be drown’d.
