“Yes, mother, this Is I—Walter.”
This telephone message received over
the long distance wires from Wnsli

I eighteen-year-old sou disappeared from
their magniiieent home in Yonkers six
months ago, says the New York Jour

The lad lias been searched for the
world over. Every United Slates con

search for him, the police of every
city in the United States and nearly
every seaport abroad have been on
the lookout for tile boy who left home

a wealthy contractor, on board of the
United States training ship Franklin
and by him brought to Washington.
The father found him by searching
the enlistments and recognized his
son’s description on the government
list.
Ho dropped out of sight on Nov. 19,
1901. having drawn his money, several
hundred dollars, from the bank, and
after that it was as if the earth bad

If their son was living or dead.
With a kiss and a smile from his
mother Walter left his home ostensi

teeth attended to. Hi- gave not the
slightest intimation of his intention to
leave home, and his failure to return
caused the greatest conjectures, in

the information that Walter had not
been there. The situation was be
wildering and terrifying to ids parents,
and from that time forward a search
was instituted that included investiga

plunged into their work, but for once
publicity failed to lend the slightest
assistance in finding the boy.
The other night the Bolger home on
