The following call was read:
“Brunswick, Ga., June 6, 1903.
“Believing that the citizens of
Brunswick are under especial obligat
ion and in common gratitude ought
to extend their assistance to the peo
ple of Georgia in such cases, I here
by request that the mayor and coun
cil meet. In special session at the
city hall at noon today for the pur
pose of considering whether or not
lliey will appropriate the sum of SSOO
or such amount as they may see prop
er to assist in relieveing the necessi
ties of a suffering people at Gaines
ville and Hall county, Georgia.

Owing to the unavoidable absence
of several members of council, it was
deemed inexpedient to make an ap
propriation from the city treasury,
without the full and unanimous vole
of council. After thorough discus
sion of the subject, the following mo
tion prevailed:
That the mayor ho requested to
issue a proclamation calling on lhe
citizens of Brunswick for aid to the
sufferers nt Gainesville and to appoint
a. committe consisting of the minis
ter.: of the city and such other citi
zens as he may deem advisable to col
loct the subscriptions.
Their being no other business the
meeting adjourned.

Motion.
That the mayor he requested to is
sue a proclamation calling on the
citizens of Brunswick for aid to the
sufferers at, Gainesville. Ga., and ap
point a committee calling on Hie min
isters of the city and such other cit
izens as he may deem advisable to
collect subscriptions.
The above motion adopted by the
mayor and council of Brunswick at
a special meeting held today and as
requested by it, I am pleased to ask
each of the ministers of this city and
following citizens to act as the com
mittee comlemplateed by the mo
tion.

It is hoped that the citizens of
Brunswick will now gladly come to
the relief of their stricken and suf

as soon as practicable.

The petition of the Loan and Land
Company of Brunswick, respectfully
shows:
1. That petitioner was duly incor
porated on the 10th day of Septem
ber, 1902, with the powers and priv
ileges set out in the petition for in
corporation and the order granting
the application, and which are of file
In the office of the clerk of said
court and duly recorded on the min
utes. and reference to which petition
and order is hereby had for the pur
poses of this petition.
2. That petitioner desires to have
Its charter amended so that It* will
have the following rights, powers and
privileges:
(a) All the rights, privileges and
powers granted and given to building
and loan associations and other like
associations doing business In this
state;
(b) To lend money to persons not
memebrs thereof nor shareholders
therein at eight per centum or less,
and to aggregate the principal and in
terest at the date of the loan for the
entire period of tho loan, and to di
vide the sum of tho principal and the
interest for the entire period of the
ioan, and to take security by mort
gage, or otherwise, and to have all
no rights, powers and privilege,- :
corporated and contained in sections
2388, 2389, 2390 and 2391 of the Code
of Georgia of 1895;
(c) To lend money to its members
on the stock held by such members,
and to charge interest and premiums
therefor;
(dl To sell its capital stock, and

setting aside a portion of such pay
ments as an expense fund, and to im
pose fines for making default in such
