In this preparation we have all the restorative properties
: >fthe root, concentrated in their utmost strength and
efficacy ; hut while ‘ arsaparilla Knot forms an impor
tant part in’ its combination, it is, at the same time, oom
! pound with other vegetable remedies of great |iower, and
it is m the peculiar combination and scientific manner
i of its preparation, that its remarkable success in ;he cure
of disease depends. It acts simultaneously u|xm the
stomach, the circulation and the bowels; and thus three
I processes which are ordinarily the result of three diflhr

I through the instrumentality of this one remedial agent.
I which gently stimulates while it disinfects and ex|K-ls
j from the stomach and bowels atl that is irritating, and
at t lie same time restores their vigor and tone. Its great
merit is, that it meets and neutralizes the aetve principle
of disease itself, and when that is gone, the symptoms
necessarily disappear ; and we have only to point to the
accumulated testimony of multitudes who ex|>erienced
its effects, to convince incredulity itself of its real value.

New Yohk, Feb. 17,1849.
.Messrs. Sands:— Having suffered many years with
a disease of my throat, affecting the larynx, during which
time I was treated by the most distinguished physicians
Europe and the United States, without receiving any
permanent benefit, lint all the time my general health
and strength declining, and the disease making fearful
progress : caustic applications were used, and whatever
else was thought most efficient for producing a cure;
but lam confident the deplorable situation I was in, the
laryngitis being accompanied with phthisis and great
difficulty in breathing, would soon hate terminated my
life, had 1 not obtained relief through the medium of
your invaluable Sarsaparilla. I must ruv gentlemen,
when 1 commenced ti.ing the Sarsaparilla 1 did not
place much confidence in its virtues: and this will not

than fifty different remedies during the past four years,
without any success; but after taking yoi.r Sarsaparilla

ANOTHER SCIENTIFIC WONDER!
Great cute for
Dyspepsia!
Dr. J. Houghton's PEPSIN, the true
Digestive Fluid, or Gastric Juice
prepared from RENNET, or
the fourth Stomach of the
Ox, after directions
oj Baron Liebig,
the great
Physiological Chemist
by J. S. Houghton, M. D. Phdudelph a.
This i truly a wondrful remedy for Indigestion, f dyc
jiepsia, jaundice, liver complaint, con*tijuan, and dt*
iulity, curingafter nature’s own method, by nature® owtn
agent, the <a*tric Juice. Q£r Half a teanpoonfiri of
l*ep*i, infused in water, will digest or dissolve five pouda
of roast beef in about two lii.urn, out of the stomach.
Pepsin is the chief element or great digestive princi
ple of the Gastric juice—the solvent of the fund, the
purifying, preserving, ami stimulating agent of the stom
ach ana intestine®. It is extracted from the digestive
stomach of the Ox. thus forming an artificial digestive
fluid, precisely like the natural gastic juice in its chemi
cal powers, and furnishing a complete and perfect substi
tute for it. Uy the aid ot this preparation the pains and
evils of indigestion and dys|H*psia are removed, just as
they would be hy a healthy stomach. It is doing wonders
for dyspeptics, curing cases of debility, emaciation, ner
vous decline and dyspeptic consumption, supposed to bt
on the verge ofthe grave. The scientific upon which it is
based, is in the highest degree curious and remarkable.
SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE.
finron Liebig, in his celebrated work on animal Chem
istry, *ay ‘An artificial digestive fluid analogous to the
gastic juice, may be readily prepared from the mucous
membrane ofthe stomach of the calf in which various ar
ticles of food, as meat and eggs will be softened, changed
and digested, just in tiresome manner as they would be
in the human stomach.*

AS A DYSPESPIA CURER
Dr. Ilughton's Pepsin has produced the most marvellous
effects, in miring cases of debility, emaciation, nervous
decline, and dvs|eptic consumption. It is impossible to
give the details of cases in the limits of this advertise
ment; hut authenticated circumstances have been given
of more than two hundred remarkable cures, in Philadel
phia, New York and Boston alone. These were near
ly all desperate cases, and the cures were not only rapid
