nOW TO TAKE LIFE
Take it like n man.
. Take it as it in—tin earnest, vi
tal rsaentiiil aflhir. Take it ns
though you were born to the task
of performing a merry part in it—
kh though tills world had waited
for your coining. Take it ns
tbcugh it wan a grand opportunity
to achieve ; to carry forward great
and good m hemes,* to hold and
cheer n weary, it may he heart
broken brother.
The fact is, life ia’undervnlued
by a great majority of mankind. —
It ia not made half aa much as
aliould be the case. We can look
laiek on opportmiitics lost; plans
unachieved, thoughts cruahed,
and all caused from lack of neces
sary and p'lssible effort. If we
knew’better how u to take and
make the most of life, it would be
greater than it is.
Now and then a man stands
aside from the crowd, labors
earnestly, steadfastly confidently,
and straightway becomes famous
for wisdom, intellect, skill and
greatness of some sort. 'I he
world wonders, admires, idolizes ;
and yet it'only illus'rates what
each may do if he takes hold of
life with a purpose.
If a man but says be will and
follows it up, there is nothing in
rcasonjho may not expect to ac
complish.

CHANGED HER MIND
She goes to school, and she be
longs to an cducatiot.nl family of
prominence, who have lately
moved from San Francisco for
official convenience. So she has
had to go to a new school contra
ry to her experience, boys anil
• girls were together in this school.
That offended her, and when she
•went home she complained.
"Mamma, that's not a good
School. 1 don't think I'll like to
stay there."
“Why?”
“There are boys and girlsail to
gether then*. It isn't pleqsant. '
“Well, my dear, try it a little
any way."
The uext day she came home in
better humor.
“Do you like the new school
better?”
“Oh, yes, mamma. The teach
er has put the loveliest little boy
next to me. He’s a lovely little
ta.y. 1 think I shall like the
school.”
The third day she came home
in the wildest of spirits, beaming
all over.
“Ob, mamma! I know all the
liovs in the school now.”
