Griffin lived near Tatliam Miues, in
this county, and had gone to Augusta
to see Ins sick brother, Mr. Rns Griffin,
and had boarded the train in Augusta
to return to his home in this county
and after being seated in the car a few
minutes he died very suddenly. The
cause of his death was a rupture of an
aneurism of one of the large blood ves
sels in the neighborhood of the heart
The remains of Mr. Griffin was turn
ed to an Undertaker in Augusta and
prepared for burial and his remnins
were brought to Thomson oil Wednes
day night, and carried out to his home

The Old Maids' Convention.
The Old Maids’ Convention, given
for the benefit of the Baptist Parson
age on last Tuesday evening, was a
success iu every sense of the word.
The house was taxed to its full capac
ity, and there was not a dull moment
from the rise of the curtain until the
end of the last act. The characters
were well cast and the local hits good.
Our local talent was assisted by Mrs.
W. M. Hawes, Misses Bertio Scott,
Flcuda Morgan and Clyde Hall, of
Warrenton, all of whom showed special
mention for the correct interpretation
which their parts received.
Mrs. Hawes and Miss Hall were es
pecially good as Miss Vanhootenburg
and Samapljia Billings.
• inurked UiWit L /inil
kept up continuous laughter by her

doubtful whether or not they can be
improved upon. Hon. M. W. Gross
fared rather badly as Tildia Jones.

How We Catch a Cold.
A cold is sometimes contracted while re
maining inactive for a while in an uneom
fortable room or a cold draft and by falling
to sleep under like conditions. But most
colds are caught while sleeping too cold at
night. Deep sleep causes sluggish clrcula
tion which renders the system siisccptahle
to change of temperature. To cure colds
use Rydales Elixir, it lessens the severity
and shortens the duration of a cold and
prevents Pneumonia, Bronchitis and Con
sumption. Gibson Drug Co.

cine. It quickly cures Coughs, Colds and

removing, as it does, the causo of tho affec
tion and leaving the parts in a strong and
healthy condition. It is not an experi
mental medicine, but lias stood the test of
years, giving satisfaction in every case,
which its rapidly increasing sale every
season confirms. Two million bottles sold
annually. Bosclieo’s German Syrup was
introduced in the United States in 18(18
and is now sold in every town and village
in tho civilized world. Three doses will
relieve any ordinary cough. Price 25 and

The present advance in the price of
cotton, may induce the farmers to plant

prove very detrimental to them.

Mr. T. J. Eady, of Atlanta, claims
that he has discovered a formula which
will undoubtedly destroy the Mexican
boll weevil in the cotton plant. lie is
very anxious that the government
maxe a test of it and offers to furnish
the formula on the agreement that if
it does what he claims he is to receive
8100,000. If it fails he says he will not
ask one cent. Mr. Eady claims that
his formula will also keep insects off of
cabbage, grape vines, and all kinds of
fruit tiees. This stuff costs about as
much per ton as guano. It is put into
the ground with the seed like fertilizer,
and can be put under any apple, peach,
pear or any other tree when set out,
and is taken up by the tree, or plant,
and no hug, worm or insect will go
i near the tree or plant.
