Mitchell County.
At a meeting of the Commissioners of
Roads and Revenues for said county,
held on the 8th day of March, 1904, the
following order was dulv passed: of Mitchell
WHEREAS, The interest
County imperatively require the erec¬
tion of a new jail, properly equipped, in
said county, the interest of the tax pay¬
ers of said county may be best served by
the issuing of bonds with which to se¬
cure funds to build and equip such jail
in an amount not to exceed. Fifteen
Thousand Dollars ($15,000.) Now there¬
fore:
It is ordered that the question of issu¬
ing such bonds of said county be sub¬
mitted to the qualified voters therein in
accordance with law, and that the no¬
tice of election sliall be in the following
form, and said notice to be published in
the newspaper in which the sheriff's ad
vertisEmeuts for said county are publish¬ held
ed, and calling said election to be
on the 20th day of April 1904. Notice
of said election to be posted at the polls
for each precinct for four consecutive
weeks beginning on the 18th day of

NOTICE OF ELECTION.
To The Qualified Voters of Mitchell
County.
Notice is hereby given that on the 20th
day of April, 1904, an election will be
held in the county of Mitchell, at which
will be submitted to the qualified voters
of said County for their determination
the question whether bonds sliall be is¬
sued by said county for the purpose of
providing funds said with which to The build and
equip a jail in county. Fifteen Tliousand amount
of said bonds to be
Dollars ($15,000.) which are to bear date,
of June 1st, 1904, and bear interest at
the rate of Five per cent, per annum,
payable semi-annually, on the first day
of January and July in each year, the
principal to be paid as follows: Five
Hundred Dollars ($500.) on the first of
January 1906, and Five Hundred Dollars
($500.) on the first days of January in
each succeeding year thereafter, up to
and including January 1st, 1933, and One
Thousand Dollars ($1000.) being the re¬
mainder of said principal, on said the bonds first
day of January 1934, when
are to be fully paid off. Both principal
and interest of said bonds to States be payable
in gold coin of the United of the
present standard of weight and fineness.
Both principal and hit, rest of said bonds
to be payable at some financial institu¬
tion in the City of New York.
The polls to be open at the various vo¬
ting precincts in the said county, as fol¬
lows :

cept at Camilla where they will open at

All those desiring to vote in favor of
the issue of said bonds will do so by
casting ballots having written or printed
on them the words “For Bonds’’; those
desiring to vote against said issue, will
do so by casting ballots having written
or printed upon them the words,
“Against Bonds."

Petition for Charter.
GEORGIA—Mitchell County.
To the Superior Court, of said County:
The petition of F. W. Franklin, A. T.
Grant and F. Anthony all residents of
said county, shows:
1st. Petitioners desire for themselves,
their associates and successsrs to be in¬
corporated under the name and style of
“Knights of the Cross.”
2nd. The term for which petitioners
desire incorporation privilege renewal is twenty the years,
with the of at end
of that time.
3rd. The object of said proposed cor¬
poration is not pecuniary profit or social, gain.
Petitioners propose to conduct a
moral and benevolent organization for
tiie enlightenment and advancement of
its members in character and conduct.
4th. Petitioners desire the rights to
purchase and hold real and personal
property and receive donations and be¬
quests, to have a corporate seal, to sue
and be sued and do all acts incident to
such a society and the proper conduct
of same.
5th. The will principal chapter Camilla, of said or¬
ganization be near said
county. Wherefore petitioners desire
to be
made a body corporate, under the name
and stylo aforesaid, entitled to the rights,
privileges and immunities and subject to
the liabilities fixed by law.

To the Superior Court of said county:
The petition of J. L. Green and M. C.
Kinney, both of said state and county,
respectfully They shows:
1. desire for themselves, their
associates, successors, and assigns, to be¬
come style incorporated under the name and
of “Pelham Cooperage and Manu¬
facturing Company.”
2. The term for wlticli petitioners ask
to be incorporated is twenty years, with
the privilege of renewal at the end of
that time.
3. The capital stock of said corpora¬
tion is to be fourthousand dollars, divided
into shares of the par value of one hun¬
dred Dollars each. Petitioners further
ask the privilege of increasing said capi¬
tal stock, from time to time, to any
amount not exceeding ten thousand dol¬
lars.
4. The whole of said capital stock of
four thousand dollars lias already been
actually 5tli. paid in.
The object of the proposed cor¬
poration is pecuniary profit and gain to
its stockholders, and the particular busi¬
ness which petitioners propose for said
corporation to carry on is the buying,
manufacturing, dealing selling and otherwise
in and with barrels, buckets,
crates, boxes and other similar articles
and other products and articles that may
be profitably within manufactured, sold, or dealt
iuor connection with said business
mentioned; owning, operating and deal¬
ing in and with saw mills, shingle mills,
audtimber interests; the acting as general
panies, or special and agents the tor exercising other persons of the or usual com¬
powers and the doing of all usual and
proper acts which pertain to or may be',
connected with said business.
6th. The principle office and place of
business of the proposed corporation will
be in the town of Pelham, Georgia, and
petitioners ask the privilege of establish¬
ing branch offices wherever they think
best,
Wherefore, petitioners pray to be made
a body corporate, under the name and
style aforesaid, entitled to the rights,
privileges, and immunities, and subject,
to the liabilities fixed by law.

Notice of r.iection.
Pursuant to the following resolution
an election will be held at the Court
House, in Camilla, Georgia, on the last
Saturday in April, 1904, for the purpose
of ascertaining whether or not the pro¬
visions of the Act of the Legislature men¬
tioned below shall lx* ratified and go in¬
to effect, and for the purpose of electing
nine members of the Board of Education
as provided in said act.
Whereas, in pursuance of an Act of
the Legislature of the State of Georgia
approved August 18th, 1903, and em¬
bodied in the Georgia Laws of 1903, pp.
204 and 210 inclusive, the Mayor and
Council of the Town of Camilla did, on
September held 28th, 1903, order an election
to be in said town, under said Act,
for tiie purpose of ascertaining whether
said Act should be ratified by the voters
of said town, and fertile election of nine
members of the Board of Education pro¬
vided in said Act; and,
Whereas, owing to defects and mis¬
takes in the manner of calling, adver¬
tising, and holding said election, the
same was never legally held:
Now Therefore, be it resolved by the
Mayor I. That and Council foregoing of said recitals town:

are true.
II. That the date of said election,
called as aforesaid, be, and the same is
hereby, changed to lie the last Saturday
in April, 1904, and an election, under
said Act, be, and the same is hereby, or¬
dered and called to be held, as provided
in said Act, on the last Saturday in
April 1904, for the purpose of ascertain¬
ing whether or not the provisions of said
Act shall go into effect and for the pur¬
pose of electing nine members of the
Board of Education, as provided in said
Act.
III. That- notice of said election be
given by the Mayor of said town by
publishing this .esolution, and by such
further notice as may be proper, as pro¬
vided by law.
At said election all persons qualified
to vote in the County of Mitchell for
members of the General Assembly and
who shall have resided in the territory
embraced in a circle, with a radius of
two miles, having for its center the cen¬
ter of the place where the Court House
of Mitchell County stood on September
Uth, 1891, and who have registered and
are otherwise qualified as provided in
said Act, shall be entitled to vote. Those
favoring shall have the ratification of said Act,
written or printed on their
ballots the words “For Public Schools.”
and those opposed to the ratification of
said Act sliall have written or printed
tin their ballots the words “Against Pub¬
lic Schools.” All persons voting in said
election shall be also entitled to vote for
nine members of the Board of Educa¬
tion, as provided in said Act.
