A HAPPY MARRIAGE.
a r Roy Powell and Miss Ger=
trude Weaver United in
This City.
Wednesday afternoon at 4:30
o’clock, a happy marriage was
eon«umated in Hogansville. The
contracting parties were Mr. Roy
Powell, of Atlanta, and Mi3s Ger¬
trude Weaver, of this city. Quite
a large number of friends were
present.
In his most impressive manner
Rev. J. G. Logan pronounced the
words that made the young cou¬
ple man and wife.
The marriage took place at the
home of the bride’s parents, Mr.
and Mrs. W, .1. Weaver, the par¬
lor being beautifully decorated in
autumn colors for the event.
An elegant supper was served
to the guests later in the evening,
after the ceremony.
Many handsome presents testi¬
fied to the popularity of the bride
and groom.
Mrs. Powell is very popular in
the social set of Hogansville, num¬
bering her friends by her acquain¬
tances and is a lovely young
woman.
Mr. Powell is well known here,
having at one time been the edi
tor of the Headlight, He is now
employed in Atlanta.
The young couple left for At¬
lanta yesterday afternoon and
will make that city their future
home.
The News joins their host of
friends in wishing Mr. and Mrs.
Powell a life of happiness, whose
pathway may be strewn with
roses.—Hogansville News.
Brooks-Joiner Marriage.
The numerous friends of Miss
Pauline Brooks and Mr. W. R.
Joiner will be as much pleased as
astonished to' learn that these
popular young people were mar¬
ried on the evening of the 18th,
of last August, Dr. John A,
Thompson, pastor ca the Meth¬
odist church, performing the
ceremony.
Business engagements of a pe¬
culiar nature made it very desir¬
able to keep the matter secret
for the time and make the an
nouncement later. Mr. Joiner
left immediately after the cere¬
mony. Having recently accepted
a position as a traveling sales¬
man, he went to travel the terri¬
tory assigned to him. The bride
feels an obligation to Hofma.ver,
Jones & Co., until the 24th inst.,
and she will continue to serve
her friends and customers there
with her usual grace and charm
until after that date. On the 25th,
of December Mr, and Mrs. Joiner
will be at home to their many
friends.
The announcement of their
marriage a few months ago will
be the occasion ef a shower of
congratulations and good wishes
upon Mr and Mrs. Joiner from
all who know them.—Albany
Herald.
The above marriage notices
will be of special interest to the
readers of the Enterprise from
the fact that Mr. Roy Powell, the
groom m the first, and Miss Pau¬
line Brooks, the bride in the
other, are former citizens of Ca¬
milla, and have many friends
here in their old home town who
will join with the Enterprise in
wishing for them all the joys
that can attend a happy wedded
life.

Honest effort is never a failure.
Envy id a disease of small

Apathy always succumbs to

No man fails who tries his level

Poverty is no disgrace—if it is
through no fault of your own.
A man who ha3 nothing but
money is to be pitied by even the
pauper.
The man who enjoys his work
wastes no time looking at the

The wife of the “good fellow”
is entitled to the credit as well as
sympathy. ,
A man never really begins to
learn until l>e is ready to admit
that he does not know.
We would all be reformers if
we could accor-.plish our favorite
reforms in a minute.
A vole cast for principle is
never lost, even though it be the
only one in the ballotbox.
We waste time when we asK the
Lord to do something that we are
able to doourselves.
We’ll never get real reforms in
this country until voters judge
candidates by their mental and
moral ability instead of by Jheir
handsnakts.
The man who meets no opposi¬

existence.
Some people are so proud of
their ancestry that they never
exert themselves to benefit pos¬

The man who prepares for
death wastes bis time; the man

Some men will seek patiently
for an excuse to do wrong when
the reason for doing right is in
plain sight.
We are always very apt to think
him a good conversationalist who
patiently listens to all we have to
say.
You have good reason to doubt
the patriotism of the man who
asks, “Will it pay?” instead of
asking, “Is it right?”
