Vol 3. No 3*
City Primary.
Agreeable to notice published
by the Executive Committee, a
white primary was held yester¬
day for the purpose of naming
candidates for Mayor, Council
men and Treasurer to be voted for
at the regularity electing which
will be held early in January to
determine who shall serve the
city as Mayor, Council men and
Treasurer for the year 1905.
The. polls were opened at eight
o’clock and lively interest was
taken at once by the candidates
and their friends over the friend¬
ly tussel for the nominations.
The candidates in the race for
Mayor were, Mr. J. H. Palmer,
the present incumbent, and Dr.
W. M. McRae, both of whom are J
excellent gentlemen and the
city’s affairs would not suffer in
the hands of either.
The candidates for Council men
were, Messrs. B. B. Watkins,
W. H. Morgan, J. C. Turner, C.
E. Watt, F, S. Perry, M. C. Ben
net, A. R. Patrick, G. B. Coch¬
ran, H. C. Dasher, Sr. and I. A
Bush, Sr.
Messrs. Turner, Watt, Perry,
Bennet and Dasher, have served
the city for the past year and so
far as the Enterprise is inform¬
ed, have given pretty general
satisfaction, but as is always the
case there is a disposition to
change on the part of some and
there is no better way to settle
such questions than by a white
primary. *
The result of the election is as
follows:

Washington, Dec. 14.—-Imme¬

a committee of seven to prefer
charges against Federal Judge
Swayne, of the Northern district
of Florida, who was impeached
yesterday. A committee of the
House appeared at the bar of the
Senate today and notified the
senate that the House had im¬
