'STAR Reading' at Banks

The Banks County Adult Learning Center is offering a research-based

skills that will increase their ability to read and understand written materials.
“We individually test each student to identify his/her strengths and weak
nesses in the areas of alphabetics (letter/sound relationships), vocabulary,
comprehension, and reading fluency (rate) and then we will teach strategies
to increase skills in each of these areas as needed,” said instructor Sharon
Clark.
The class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The program is open to all Banks County residents (18 and older) free of
charge.
Anyone who needs help with reading is asked to call the Banks County
Adult Leaning Center (706-677-4302) and make an appointment for testing.
“We will accept students until the class for this quarter is full, and we plan
to add additional classes based on need,” Clark said.

Mondays/Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Tuesdays/Thursdays, 11
