Sunderman
Jerry Martin Sunderman,
65, of Lula, died
Wednesday, August 20,
2008, at The Oaks at
Limestone Nursing Home
following a brief illness.
He was born in
Dyersburg, Tenn., the
son of the late Morris and
Wilda Sunderman and was
Baptist. He was a member
of the Lions Club and was
preceded in death by a
brother, Rick Sunderman.
Survivors include sons
and daughters-in-law, Jeff
and Dianne Sunderman,
Maysville, Kenny and
Becky Sunderman and
Patha Sunderman, all of
Lula; daughter and son-
in-law, Terri and Brad
Holmes, Bloomington, Ind.;

Margie Roseetta
Simmons, 78, of
Commerce, died Thursday,
August 21, 2008, at BJC
Hospital in Commerce.
She was the daughter of
the late Paul and Martha
Patton Smith.
She was the mother of
David Simmons, Homer.

Alton Martin
Alton Claude “Gas Man”
Martin, 76, of Lula, died
Monday, August 25, 2008,
at his residence, following
an extended illness.
A lifelong resident of
Hall County, he was the
son of the late Claude J.
and Mamie Lee Stewart
Martin. He was retired
from the City of Gainesville
and was a member of the
Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Mr. Martin was preceded in
death by a son, Randall C.
Martin; sisters, Myrtie Lee
Garner, Lacleta Robinson,
Geraldine Sailers and
Junita Anderson.
Survivors include his
wife of 56 years, Claudine
Martin, Lula; son and
daughter-in-law, Windsel
and Regina Martin,
Homer; granddaughter,
Natasha Martin; grandson,
Nathan Martin, Homer;
great-granddaughters,
Audrey and Marley Martin,
Mt. Airy; sisters, Nora
Hayes, Maysville, Lanelle
Romines, McDonald,Tenn.,
Millicent McCabe, Winder,
and Martha Garrison, Lula;
brothers, Carlton Martin,
Duluth, Seaborn Martin,
Fairmount and Harold
Martin Sugar Valley; and
a host of nieces, neph
ews and other family and
friends.

the Revs. Johnny Stone
and Howard Collins officiat
ing. Burial was in Memorial

Ruby Caudell
Ruby Grace Caudell, 79,
of Homer, died Sunday,
August 24, 2008, at her
r e s i -
dence.
Born in
Franklin
County

10, 1928,
she
was the
daughter of the late Lee
and Eurith Umbehant
Roberson. She was an
active member of the con
gregation of the original
Damascus Baptist Church,
where she was a mem
ber of the choir, taught
Vacation Bible School, and
was active in the WMU.
She was a 60-year resi
dent of Grady Community,
Banks County, and will
always be remembered for
her love of family, friends,
and kind and thoughtful
ways to those who were
sick or in need.
Survivors include her
husband of 61 years,
P.G. Caudell Jr., Homer;
daughters and sons-in-law,
Carolyn Tieger and Elliott
Brown, Washington, DC,
Debbie and Josh Hope,
Hoschton, Kathy and David
Cobb, Alto; five grandchil
dren; and four great-grand
children.
Funeral services were
held Wednesday, August
27, at at Whitfield Funeral
Home, South Chapel, with
the Revs. Terry Rice and
Jim McClendon officiating.
Burial was in the original
Damascus Baptist Church
cemetery.

Junior C. Martin, 77,
of Commerce, died
Wednesday, August 20,
2008.
He was the son of the
late J.C. and Lois Haynes
Martin and was the broth
er of Barbara Snipes and
Linda Parson, both of
Maysville.

held Friday, August 22, in
the chapel of Ivie Funeral
Home.

Juanita Joyce Nix
Twiggs, 54, of Gillsville,
died Wednesday, August
20, 2008, at her residence,
following an extended ill
ness.
She was born in Hall
County, the daughter
of Pearl Sutton Nix of
Gainesville and the late
B.A. Nix. She was a mem
ber of Oak Grove Baptist
Church.
Survivors in addition to
her mother, include her
husband, Lynn Twiggs,
Gillsville; daughters, Misty
Marie Twiggs and Malena
Twiggs, both of Gillsville;
grandson, Caleb Twiggs,
Gillsville; brothers, Ray
Nix, Oakwood, David Nix
and Michael Nix, both of
Gainesville, and Jimmy
Underwood, Cleveland; sis
ter, Janet Gee, Oakwood;
and a host of nieces, neph
ews, family and friends.

Patricia Ann Gaddis,
61, of Gainesville, died
Monday, August 25,
2008, at Northeast
Georgia Medical Center in
Gainesville, following an
extended illness.
She was born in White
County on April 10, 1947,
the daughter of the late
Thomas William and
Hassie Mae Hamilton
Dooley.
She was the mother of
Debra Carlisle of Lula.
Funeral services will be
held Friday, August 29, at
1 p.m., in the chapel of
Barrett Funeral Home with
Dr. Lynn Hill officiating.

Becky Powers, 56, of
Cornelia, died Tuesday,
July 26, 2008, at Peachtree
Christian Hospice, follow
ing an extended illness.
She was born in
Habersham County on
February 20, 1952, the
daughter of H. Hamilton
Gibbs Jr. and the late Betty
Grant Gibbs.
She was the sister-in-
law of Grace Mobley of
Baldwin.
