The Banks County Farm Bureau women’s commit
tee delivered a basket of goodies to the senior cen
ter on December 10. The basket contained packs
of Georgia Farm Bureau peanuts, jelly, fruit book
marks, a Farm Bureau potholder, and jars of honey
along with honeybee bookmarks for promotion of
our annual commodity. They also made Christmas
cards for the 35 senior citizens that attend activities
at the center.

seminar planned Jan. 15
Beef cattle producers are in
vited to attend a seminar that will
help them manage their cattle
herd more efficiently. Through
the wise selection of genetically
superior breeding animals, cattle
producers can produce larger,
faster growing calves that will
bring an improved profit, orga
nizers of the seminar state..
Banks County Extension and
AgGeorgia Farm Credit are
sponsoring the seminar which
will be held on Thursday, Janu
ary 15,from 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. It
will be held at the First Georgia
Bank Community Room, located
at the intersection of Hwy. 441
and Old Historic Homer Hwy,
just south of Homer.
AgGeorgia Farm Credit is
sponsoring a meal for the partici
pants, but there is limited seating.
Participants must call and reserve
a seat by calling 706-677-6230.
Banks County Extension will
be providing UGA Extension
Specialists and Agents to give
presentations on topics, such as.
Herd Sire Selection, Artificial
Insemination, Embryo Transfer,
and Cattle Behavior Manage
ment. Cattle producers will learn
what to look for in selecting
a genetically superior bull for
their cattle herd, a low cost farm
setup for artificial insemination,
the newest artificial insemina
tion techniques, an overview of
the embryo transfer process, and
improved methods of managing
cattle behavior.
Recertification hours for pri
vate pesticide applicators license
owners will be given.

Lodge plans supper Friday

Phi Delta Lodge 148 F. & A.
M. will host a St. Johns Supper on
Friday December 19. All lodge
members and widows of former
lodge members are invited to at
tend. Sponsors ask each family to
bring a covered dish and dessert.
The evening will include the is
suing of a 50-year award and two
25-year awards. For more infor

Our grandson, Roger Michael
Pace m ‘Trey,” was in the Christ
mas program at Berea Baptist
Church on Saturday night. He
was dressed as a camel. He is the
son of Michael Pace of Gillsville
and Jennifer Pace of Commerce.
The community was saddened
to hear of the death of Ida Mae
Standridge. She was the widow
of Jimmy Standridge of Gillsville.
Our prayers are with her family
and host of friends. Remember
this family when you pray.
Belva Marlow and other family
members enjoyed the weekend in
Gatlinburg, Tenn. They enjoyed
seeing the parade of lights. They
all had a great time.
The community was saddened
to hear of the death of Allan Poe
of Commerce. He is survived by
his wife, one son, two daughters,
four grandchildren, other family
members and a host of friends.
Local ties are Chris and
April Davidson and girls.
He played the piano. He
and his talent will be
greatly missed by his
family and host of friends.
JoAnn told me on Mon
day that Sunday Decem
ber 7, he played the piano
in church. Remember this
family when you pray.
Our prayers are with the family
of Sybil Martin who passed away
last week. She was the widow of
Tommy Martin. Remember her

pray. She will be greatly missed.
