These was a severe fight between two
wings of the party, in end around the
Tenth Ward Bepublioan Club Boom, in
New Orleans, on Tuesday night. It grew
out of the rival olaims of two sets of del
egates. Both pistols and shot guns *
freely used, and about two hundred shots
were fired iu all. Ten or twelve persons
are known to have been wounded, some
of them severely, and one or two danger
ously. But as it was exclusively a Jtadi-
oal fight, it is not probable that anybody
will be sent to the Albany penitentiary
on neoount of it.

Bepublican party was debarred from rais
ing that objeotiou after it had refused to
impose an educational qualification when
it enfranchised tho blacks of the Booth.
Tho bill passed the House by n vote of

Kepert os Fraternal Relation*.
-Iu the General
rjiavixu,' 'May 83.—.Iu the General
eronra7of| Me Methodist Episcopal
Chared South, yesterday, the ‘Committee
on Fraternal Relatione with the Northern
Church reported that it is deemed proper,
for tbo ettainmept of tha object sought,
to guard against all misapprehension.
The expense of the two braoobes of Metb.
odists is such as to make a corporate
union uodeeirabi* and impracticable.
The causes which led to s division in 1844
have not disappeared.
Reference is made to the inconvenience
of organizing a proper basis of represen
tation to the General Conference, end to
tbo difference in power claimed by the
two braoobes as iuhereut to tha General
Oouforenoe.
On the subject of slavery reporta
says: “The position of Northern Meth
odiam is soriptursl. Our opiuions have
undergone no change.” It refers to the
fact thet many colored persons, who had
bran eonvsrted through their instrumen
tality, have gone over to the Northern
ohureb, sod says: “Following the indica
tion of Providence, we have, without
abandoning this work, adopted our meth
ods to change the condition of the Afri-
ora raoe. Many of them have been drawn
away from ua by applianoea that we were
not prepared to oonnteraot; but a rem
nant remained, and at their request wa
have set off onr colored members into
independent eoolesiastioal bodies. We
have tamed over to them titles end pos
sessions of cbnrch property formerly held
by ns. Onr Northern brethren have pur
sued a different plan, end they seem com
mitted to it by honest end conscientious
conviotions. They have mixed confer
ences, mixed congregations end mixed
schools. Wo do not ask thorn to adopt
our plen. We conld not adopt theirs.”
The report then gives the details of the
effort by tha Sonthern branch in 1846 to
reooneife tho differences end the refusal
ot the Northern branch to receive their
commissioners; also a renewal of the ef
fort made in 1870. The report then rays:
“Thus stood theoeno when Urn distin
guished gentlemen of the Methodist
churoh of tha conference of 1872 broogbt
ns tbetr fraternal greetings. We htil
them with pleasure and welcome the op-
portunity, at length offered, for enteriog
into negotiations to secure tranqnility
and fellowship to oar alienated commu
nions upon a permanent, basis and alike
honorable to til."
Bpeoial stress is laid upon the necessity
of recognizing the plan of operation ori|
iually proposed by the ohnrch Booth,
says: “The plan of aeparation is too 1m
C tsnt to be lightly estimated. by ns. II
provisions touching territorial limits
