Mr. J. 6. Campbell Ends His
Own Life.

Mr. O. J. Campbell, owner of tbe

the victim of bd accident yesterday
morning shortly after 5 o’clock.

of the City of Brunswick, in council as
sembled, and It is hereby resolved by
authority of the same, that a discount
of ten per cent, be and the same is here
by allowed to all persons who shall pay
their taxes due the said city for the year
1600 on or before the first day of August,

entitled, “An ordinance to assess and
levy taxes for the support of the City
Government for the year 1900, and for

same; to prescribe penalties for viola
tions of said ordinance, and for other
purposes. ”
Bee. 1. Be it ordained by the Mayor
and Aldermen of the City of Bruns
wick, in council lawfully assembled, and
it is hereby ordained by authority of thn
same, that the words “one and one bait

ordinance, be and the same. hereby
stricken; nnd the words, “one and one
quarter per centum” be, and the same
are hereby substituted in lieu of said

the authority aforeaaid. that for the
purpose . aforesaid, .for the said year,
1900, a tax of one add one quarter per
centum be, and the same is hereby lev

of the same in two equal payments: one
on Or before the,3oth day of June, 1900,
and the other on or before the 30th day
of November, 1900; provided any tax

In spite of the inclement weather yes
terday afternoon quite a large crowd
went out to the baseball grounds
to see the Quincy team meet with a terri
bledefeat. It is with pleasure that The
Times notes the unusually large number
of ladles present and it is to be hoped
that they w'lll continue to attend the
games.
The game yesterday, although the
score was rather large, was a very pretty
one. The Brunswick boys went out to
redeem themselves for tbe game they
lost on Wednesday and they dul in great
shape. They started off tho first in
ning aud made eleven runs before the
side retired.
Kapli&u was in the' box for Bruns
wick and did some excellent work, as he
usually .does. Be is a good all-round
hall player, aud we arc glad that he is to
lie with us the season. Ballyntinc was
behind the bat and also did good work,
Davison, Brunswick’s new man was in
yesterday’s game and also did some
'gdod work, as did our entire team,
The Quincy boys leave this morning
for Fernandina,' where they play today

The Supreme court has aitirmed the
deoieion in the Tnrner case from
Glynn Superior court and the convic
ted man will haye to serve out his
time in the penitentiary.
Everybody in Brunswick is familiar
with this case. Turner was charged
with cow stealing mid the case has
been on the docket for sometime. At
the December term of the court Judge
Rennet would not pospone it, and It
was tried, which resulted in a ver
dict of guilty.
