THEATRICAL TREATS
A Woman of No Importance.
‘ How hard would be the way of
evildoers, and how easy the task of
improving sooial conditions it it were
not for the fool friends of good o .uses,”
says one of the characters in Rose
Ooghlan’s plas, “A Woman of No Im
portance,” which will be seen here at
the Grand on Deo, 14. The production
promises to be the mod brilliant
social event of the Beason as the play
is generally conceded ta be the keen
est satire on sooial ambiguities and
shams produoed in the past decade:
"Who is that lady” asks a friend of
the man who has just refused absolut
ely and mercilessly to repair a great
wrong done to the lady’s son and her
self, after a powerful dramatic soene.
"Oh! she’s a woman of no imortance,”
replies the man airily. From this
inoident the play reoeived its title.
llt is notable that the ourtain desoends
on every act upon a soene of intense
dramatic foroe. The oompany chosen
to support Ruse Coghlan Is selected
from r he ranks of the best aotors in
society plays New York City oan
provide, and the entire produotion is a
| costly aud elaborate one.
