New Year's Day
Beach Sweep Slated
Ring in the New Year, welcome in
a clean and green 2019 and make a
difference at the same time - join in
Keep Golden Isles Beautiful’s second
annual New Year’s Day beach sweep!
Volunteers meet at the St. Simons Is
land Old Coast Guard Station beach
crossover at 8AM on Tuesday, Janu
ary 1st to sign in and receive supplies
(trash bags and gloves provided).
Volunteers will concentrate on pos
sible litter left over from New Year’s
Eve merry-making. “While fireworks
are prohibited on Glynn County
beaches, volunteers will be prepared
to remove even the smallest pieces of
fireworks debris, preventing possible
marine debris that can be harmful
to marine life,” said KGIB executive
director Lea King-Badyna. “The New
Year’s Day cleanup idea is the brain
child of KGIB volunteers Jenn and
Mike Hatcher who will again be lead
ing the cleanup. We greatly appreci
ate their helping us kick off a clean,
green and beautiful 2019.”

check to Manna House board members John Girton, third from left, and Chris
Pippart, second from right. Others from left are Virginia Lensch, Laura Kipp,
