THE MERCER CLUSTER
Marvin Pearce
1, Marvin Pearce, an now an
nouncing my candidacy for the of
fice of Vice President of the Jun
ior Class for the 1968-69 school
term It is with deep sincerity that
f hope to lead the breakthrough
for better class government.
As you may
all know, the of
fice of Vice
President does
not have the in
fluence that
other offices on
this campus
have but it can
jk, ^ be an influen
tial office for
someone having the desire to chan
nel the wants and needs of the Jun
iors to those officers having such
influence. I have this desire and 1
truly want to help our class ac
complish those things it wants or
needs during the coming school
year.
As for former experience, in high
school I served as an oficer in seve
ral dubs and organizations and on
many different committees. ■ Past
experience is important but I feel
that a person's desire to serve is
more important and I have that
desire.
Serving, though, requires your
help as fellow classmates and stu
dents because only by expressing
your feelings on different issues
can your class officers serve you as
you would like them to. Your im
mediate responsibility lies in vot
ing for the candidate of your choice
on April 3. If you do not vote, you
may forfeit an opportunity to as
sure yourself of a slate of officers
that can best thrust the Junior
Class into a year of unparalleled
student-officer cooperation and ad
vancement.
I sincerely submit my request
that you vote on April 3 for those
you think can best serve you in
their respective capacities. I second
ly submit my desire to lead the
breakthrough for better student-
administration relations and for
progress in the Junior Clas of 1969
Seeking the o|>portunity to
serve you.

Since I am running on what I
have done during my two quarters
at Mercer, I will
not give any
qualifies-

have from my
years in High
school. The only
qualifies-

feel are neces

want to hold the position. I am
willing to put as much time as is
needed into the office, and that

Fellow Sophomores,
I'm sure you all realize how im
portant it is for each student here
Mercer to do his part in contri
buting to our school's progress.
Without a combined effort from
each one of us
it will be diffi
cult to attain
higher goals.
This especially
applies to Mar

but is equally
important if we
are to be out-

we want to improve. I foal ftp I

One of the most enthusiastic, in
spired, and outstanding leaden in
the freshman class is, without a
doubt, Danny Brogdon. In his
quest to be elected as vice presi

tain predominant characteristics
stand out above
all other candi
dates. In high
school he served
as Student Coun

By attending various
conferences and workshops through
out the state of Georgia, he has
attained the knowledge of effective
student government with the em
phasis on working together toward
a common goal. Upon arming on
the Mercer Campus, Danny has
proved himself in two ways: in
academics by maintaining a 2.7
average through his first two quar
ters and in the field of leadership
by being elected president of the
pledge class of Alpha Tan Omega
fraternity. His superb job in both

Danny's outspoken ideas and in
tense concern over the need for,
a strange rand more unified class
government has been the main fac

a great problem which is apparent
to all who have taken the interest

problem not only will be solved,
