Editor Gantt gives to the public the firs' (
issue of the Daily Banner this morning.—
Tbe Banner-Wa'cbnian is no mor.—the
Daily Banner takes its place. The pap< r
is a creditable one, and the h ading edito
rial is on the right line. R val newspapers
in Athens, as in other places, may strive
for tbe mastery and ditß-r in many re
ap cis, but al ingside the Chronicle in its
persistent fight for Democracy, Georgia,
and Athens, the Banner may take its
stand, and in this respect, both papers
shall fight the same battle. In its new
dices it makes quite a handsome appear
ance, and its rooster looks as game as be
did long years ago.
