OCTOBER Bth 1885.
Scolding and fault-finding have
neut more people to d operation
and ikstuction than all the great
evils of life put together.
The Macon Telegraph has ap
peared in a new dre>s. The paper
M very much improved, and its live
management hope not tostopheie
in the good work, but to continue
the improvement until the paper
will rank with any metropolitan
journal.
What this town of Athens needs
more than any thing else is a cot dial
spirit of unanincity among itscitizens
on all questions where th” city is
interested. There is too much pul
ling apart, too much differing, and
too little enthusism. Chronicle,
We can say the tame for Douglas
■villr. Ed.
We warn you that the worm un
der your heel will yet turn upon you
and sting you to death. When it
has come to pass in a Christian land
boast ing of its free institutions, that
men are compelled to run a gauntlet
between two hundred men and boys
under the scrouge of whips and clubs
tor no crime but being the victims of
conditions force I upon them by their
jitrsecu tors, God will rai-e up armies
and provide them with thunderbolts
with which to avenge their wrongs
and indignities.
Card- Playing at Home

An EnarHshman's Testimony. 4
I feel it my duty to the thousands who Buf
fer from Blood Poison to gi ve nay experienct
with that horrible disease and the wonderful
effect of Swift’s Specific in its treatment. I
am a native of England, and while there I
contracted this terrible disease, and for two
years was under treatment as an out door
patient at Nottingham Hospital, England,
but was not cured. I suffered the most
agonizing pains in my bones, and was cover
ed with sores all over my body and limbs.
1 had vertigo and deafness, with partial loss
<jf sight, severe pains in my head and eye.*,
etn which nearly ran me errzy. I lost all
hope in that country, andsailcd ‘or America,
and was treated at R<josevclt in this city, as
well as by a prominent physician in New
York having no connection with the hos
pitals.
I siw the advert'sementofSwi t’s Specific,
and I determined to give it a trial as a las:
resort. Iha driven up all hope of being
cured, as I hwgone through the handsef
the i>eet medical men iu Nottingham and
Nt w York. I took six bottles of S. S. 8. and
I can say with great joy that they havecured
me entirely. I atn as soutd and well as 1
ever was in my life. I v-as so proud of the
cure that I wrote to Gloucester, England, to
ao old companion who is suffering with
locomatorataxia, as the doctors call i . earn
ed by Blood Poison. He has arr.ved here,
and is taking 8. 8.8 with marked benefit.
I confidently believe that in a short time be
will be entirely well, aud that after having
passed through the best medical hands in
E ig’and without any good effect.
