News from the Over 50
Club of Madison Co.
The Over Fifty Club was called to order by Betty Westbrook March
18, with 18 people in attendance, including 4 guests.
The thought for the day was “It All Adds Up.” Life doesn’t always
add up. There has to be a way to make sense of it, so always count on
God to help.
Debbie Coady led the group singing the theme song, "This is the
Day.” Happy Birthday was sung to Gene Lackey, Geri Cornish and
Ron Leuthner. There were no anniversaries in March to honor.
Prayer requests for Billie Gober, Tom Lackey, Ruth Lackey, Gene
Lackey and Pat Miles (travel) were asked. Bill Coady led the healing
prayers.
The secretary/treasurer report was read by Cheryl Leuthner.
A trip to view the azaleas at Callaway Gardens was planned for
April 14. The church bus will leave the parking lot at 8 a.m. Anyone
interested in attending should contact Betty Westbrook, Cheryl
Leuthner or Bill Coady.
Will (Grandpa) Mauldin presented the program. He read several
excerpts on different topics including “Things you don’t hear any
more," “Only in America”, “You know you’re a redneck when,” and
“Things that make you feel good." Good job, Will. Thank you.
The meal prayer was led by Gene Lackey. The hostesses were
Betty Westbrook, Ann Seagraves and Cheryl Leuthner. April’s host
ess will be Debbie Coady. We are all asked to bring extra food for
the table, as we will have a program presented by a group of ladies.
That meeting will be on April 8, 2009, at 11:30 in the fellowship hall
at Gordon’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Hull. All persons fifty
years and over are welcome to come and enjoy some good fellowship
and laughter.
