people are celebrating the importance of music programs
in our schools. “Please contact Garland Ryder at Ba or
Danielsville Elementary to ask about how you can support
our local music programs,” teachers said. Pictured, students

Freshman Academy FFA
Student Spotlight: Jesse Griffith
Jess Griffith is currently a stu
dent at the Madison County High
School Freshman Academy.
He was enrolled during the first
semester in the Basic Agricultural
Education class offered at the
Freshman Academy. Through
the class students complete the
three parts of the total Agriculture
Education Program, which
includes: FFA, SAE (Supervised
Agriculture Experience) and class
room/lab.
Griffith had a very diverse SAE
which included engine repair, lawn
care maintenance and beef cattle
production. Griffith was also an
active member in the classroom
where he participated in every unit
including leadership, communica
tion, plant science, wiring, welding, of a plant
woodworking, forestry science, flo
riculture and much, much more, all while meeting Georgia Performance
Standards.
Griffith, however, has been the most involved with the FFA aspect of
the Total Agriculture Program. He has competed in several CDEs (Career
Development Events) this year. At the Area II level, Griffith has com
peted in CDEs such as farm business management and livestock judging.
On the state level, he has competed in meats evaluation and will be
traveling to compete in poultry judging. Coming up at the end of the
month, Griffith will travel with the Madison County Freshman Academy
FFA Chapter to the Greenhand Jamboree presented by the State FFA
officer, where he will learn more leadership, communication and team
work skills.
Griffith says he would like to be an agricultural ecologist and work
with the USDA when he grows up.
“I would also like to grow my own chickens,” he said.
Griffith is a member of the Freshman Academy FFA Chapter where he
also attends FFA meetings, and local FFA socials. Jesse was also chosen
as the January FFA student spotlight for the Channel 32 News out of
Toccoa.
