in Comer
The comedy show, "It Was Open
Mic Nite At Ye Okie Rustic Inn,’’
returns to Comer’s Saving Grace
Cafe April 3-4 at 8 p.m.
Carlton’s Stephanie Astalos-Jones,
who’s appeared in movies and
television during her career, and Lisa
Mende, who had a reoccurring role
on Seinfeld, perform the show.
"The Schmeckles, Cora Lee and
Carlene and all your faves will be
joined by two new comedy acts,’’
organizers say. “Snacks and sodas
will be available for purchase and feel
free to BYOB."
Tickets are $15 at the door. There
are no advance ticket sales.
Saving Grace Cafe is located at
1926 Madison St. in Comer, behind

Easter egg hunt set
for April 4
The 22 ntl annual Easter Egg Hunt
will be held on Saturday, April 4, at 10
a.m. the Madison County Recreation
Department. The egg hunt is free of
charge and open to al children ages
eight and under, officials said.
Participants are asked to bring a
canned food item to donate to the
Madison County Food Bank.
Children will be divided into four
age divisions: 2 and under; 3-4 year
olds; 5-6 year olds and 7-8 year olds.
There will be over 4,000 eggs, 20
prizes and plenty of fun for everyone,
organizers said.
In case of inclement weather, the
rain date is Saturday, April 11, at 10

Second Annual
“Ride to Survive” set
for April 11
Harmony House Child Advocacy
Center presents the second annual
"Ride to Survive,” on Saturday, April
11, at the Danielsville City Hall (rain
or shine).
There will be a free Holman Autry
Band concert with bike check-in/
registration at 9 a.m. The ride starts at
10 a.m. Registration fees are: $10 per
bike, $5 per passenger (fee includes
lunch). The ride starts in Madison
County (Danielsville) and goes
through Franklin, Hart and Elbert
counties then back to Danielsville
City Hall. Raffle prizes, food and
T-shirts will also be available,
organizers said.
All proceeds will be used for
advocacy and related items in the
operation of Harmony House, a
non-profit agency that assists child
and adult victims of sexual assault,
according to organizers. Located
in Royston, the agency provides
assistance to residents of Madison,
Franklin, Hart, Elbert and Oglethorpe
counties.

Master Gardeners to
hold plant
sale April 18
The Madison County Master
Gardeners Association (MCMGA)
will hold its spring plant sale from 9
am to noon April 18 at the Madison
County Extension Office on Sunset
Drive in Danielsville.
"There will be assorted perennials,
annuals, vegetable plants, including
heirloom tomatoes and houseplants
all available at reasonable prices,”
organizers said. “In addition to
plants, MCMGA is also selling
tickets for a beautiful wooden arbor,
built and donated by craftsman Ron
Leuthner."
Tickets are $5 each or three for
$12. The drawing will be held at
11:30 the day of the plant sale.

tickets. Coffee and baked goods will
also be sold.
Carlton Junction
Function set for
April 25
The annual Carlton Junction
Function is set for Saturday, April
25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the big
field on Hwy. 72 near the Carlton
Post Office.
There will be crafts and food
vendors, musicians, kid-friendly
activities, and “more barbecue booths
than any other town fair can boast,”
organizers said.

Colbert Canna
Pageant set
for May 9
Spring is in the air and that means it
is time for the annual Colbert Canna
Pageant, organizers said. This year’s
pageant is scheduled for Saturday,
May 9, at the Colbert auditorium.
Entry forms may be picked up at
the Colbert Bread Basket or Colbert
City Hall.
To be eligible, contestants must be
ages 4-6, grades 4-6 or grades 9-12.
They must live on a Colbert or Hull
school bus route or mail route. The
pageant information meeting will be

the Colbert Auditorium. For more

Hull Spring Festival
planned for May 23
The 11 th annual Hull Spring
Festival is set for Saturday, May 23,
from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the festival
site on Old Hull Road (off Hwy. 72).
Organizers say there will be a
parade, antique/classic car show,
political recognitions, entertainment
by Frankie and Tina Cleveland,
children’s activities and more.
Net proceeds will go to “There’s
Hope for the Hungry Food Ministry,”
sponsored by Hull Baptist Church,
according to organizers.

psychology degree, and from
Athens Technical College with
an associates degree in nurs
ing. She is employed at St.
Mary's Healthcare in Athens
as a registered nurse,
Mr. Tolbert is the son
of Laura McPherson, of
Commerce, and the late Carl
Jackson Tolbert Sr.
His maternal grandparents
are Sara Blackmon and the late
Hudson Blackmon of Dewy
Rose and his paternal grand
parents are the late Talmadge
and Margaret LeCroy.
He is a graduate of Madison
County High School and
Lanier Tech. He is employed
as a paramedic by Madison
County EMS/Board of
Commissioners.
The wedding is planned for
Saturday, April 18, at 6 p.m.
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Travis Legg, Comer.
