Hospital in
Atlanta.
Born in
DeKalb County
on August 7,
1932, he was the son of the late
Onnie Elmer and Ruth Rollins
Pulliam. He was a retired truck
driver and member of the Liberty
Baptist Church in Carnesville.
He was a veteran, having served
in the United States Navy dur
ing the Korean Conflict. Mr.
Pulliam was preceded in death
by a son, Kim Rodney Pulliam.
Survivors include his wife,
Geneva Owens Pulliam,
Royston; son and daughter-in-
law, Ken R. and Cheryl Pulliam
Loganville; daughter-in-law,
Cynthia Pulliam, Carnesville;
grandchildren, Angel Womack,
Cory Pulliam, Joey Pulliam,
Tiffany Pulliam and Thomas
Pulliam; seven great-grandchil
dren; and a sister, Gwendolyn

the Franklin Memorial Gardens-

she was the daughter of the
late Charles and Minnie Smith

Kentucky and the University of
Georgia, with a master’s degree
from Furman University. She
taught at Grove and Northwood
Elementary Schools and was a
reading specialist at Travelers
Rest and Gateway Elementary
Schools. She was a member
of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority,
International Honorary Sorority
for Women Educators, and
was a member of Hampton
Heights Baptist Church. Mrs.
Roaden was preceded in death
by a daughter, Joyce Chandler;
granddaughter, Stacie Chandler;
and brothers and sisters-in-law,
Kermit and Patsy Nicholson,
and Carl and Ruth Nicholson.
Survivors include her husband
of 67 years, Jesse Roaden; sons
and daughters-in-law, Kenneth
and Judy Roaden, Dallas,
Texas, Glenn and Kay Roaden,

Etta Hicks
Saxon and
was preced
ed in death
by his wife
of 60 years,
Clara Mae Davidson Saxon;
brother, Price Saxon; and sisters,
Blanche Lewallen, Lillie Belle
Thomas, Lona Smith, Carie
Jackson and Mae Smith. He had
lived in Lula most of his life and
was the Founding Father of the
Lula Congregational Holiness
Church. He served there for
over 45 years as deacon, trust
ee, Sunday School Teacher, and
song director. He taught singing
schools all over North Georgia,
slated song director for camp
meetings in Georgia, Alabama
and North Carolina. He and his
family arranged a singing group
known as The Singing Saxon
Family, which traveled all over
Georgia, South Carolina, North
Carolina, Virginia, Alabama,
Tennessee and Florida. His
whole family was known to sing
far and wide over Georgia and
ride on wagons to every singing
in the community. He was one
of those who got to sing around
the old pump organ at night
with the old pine torch and oil
lamps and sing with his family
until midnight.
Survivors include son and
daughter-in-law, Morgan and
Dianne Saxon; daughters and
sons-in-law, Edna and Swayne
Jordan and Hilda and Joe Pavan;
grandchildren, Carroll and Lori
Saxon, Steven Marchbanks,
Renee and Matt Bejaran, Susan
and Greg Caudell and Jackie
Saxon; nine great-grandchil
dren; sisters, Gertrude Armour
and Dollie Duncan; and a host
of nieces, nephews, relatives
and friends.

wood worker in the logging
industry and was a member of
Montgomery Baptist Church in
Gillsville. He was a veteran,

States Army. Mr. Seymour was
preceded in death by his wife,
Betty Sue Hall Seymour; and
brothers, Thomas and James
Seymour.

in Metter, she was the daughter

Kirkland Jones. She was adopt

Georgia Adams. She was retired
from Hartwell Mills and was
a member of Sardis Baptist
Church. Mrs. Shiflet was pre
ceded in death by her husband,
Lanier Shiflet; and a brother,
Lonnie Adams.

He served with the local
National Guard, served in
the Army in Italy with the
Engineering Battalion, then
began his law enforcement

working for the Gainesville City
Fire Department. He retired
from Hall County Sheriff's
Department with approxi
mately 20 years of service. Mr.
Stephens was preceded in death
by a brother, Cecil Stephens.

Nursing and Rehab Center in
Snellville, following complica
tions of Alzheimer’s disease.
Born on June 10, 1929, he
grew up in Maysville, Banks
County. He enlisted in the
United States Army in 1946,
and held many decorations, to
include the Meritorious Service
Medal, Bronze
Star, four Army
Commendation
Medals, World
War II Victory
Medal and Combat Infantry
Badge. He retired from the
Army as Lieutenant Colonel.
He was employed with the
Atlanta Public Schools
R.O.T.C. program, served as a
State Representative from 1975
though 1992 in Georgia, and
authored around 19 laws.
Survivors include his wife,
Bessie Tolbert, Snellville; chil
dren, Tommy Tolbert Jr. and
Kassandra Tolbert, Cindy and
Gary Hetherington, Terri and
Steve Bland, all of Snellville,

was a driver
for the Dodge
Dealership and was a veteran of
the United States Army having
served during World War II. He
was of the Baptist denomina
tion. He enjoyed the Saturday
Morning Brooks County Men’s
Bible Group, watching baseball
on television, and watching his
friend’s young sons play base
ball. Mr. Wilson was preceded
in death by his wife, Blanche
Peek Wilson; and brothers,
Mack Wilson, Danielsville,
Jack Wilson, Decatur, and Ray
Wilson, Ohio; and a sister, Dot
Whitehead, Colbert.

Oak Hill Cemetery.
