go to benefit local missions, orga

Kirkin’ O" the Tartans and home
coming service Sunday, Sept. 27,
beginning at 11 a.m. This is a cel
ebration inspired by the Scottish
"Blessing of tire Clans,” a Celtic
service celebrating 126 years
of Scottish heritage in Madison
County, church leaders said. The
event will feature bagpipe, drum
and Celtic harp. A covered dish
luncheon will follow the service,
leaders said. "Bring your friends
and family and join Mt. Hermon
as the church reaches out to the
community and civic leaders,
extending a traditional blessing
upon all,” church leaders said.

ing an outdoor gospel singing and

held outdoors in the church park
ing lot. Featured groups for tire
singing will include: Fourgiven
and Lazarus Unwound, along with
several local groups. Fourgiven is
a well-known Southern gospel
group from Madison County.
Lazarus Unwound is from Elbert
County and they offer a wide
range of styles from Southern
Gospel to rock and blues style
Christian music. "This is a love
offering singing and no admis
sion will be charged,” church
leaders said. "Everyone is invited
to bring their lawn chairs.” In
case of rain, the singing will be
held in the church sanctuary.
Barbecue chicken plates will be
available for dine-in or take-out
from 4-7 p.m. Plates will include
a chicken half, coleslaw, apple
sauce, chips, bread and dessert.

Meek, of Trinity Baptist Church
in Livermore, CA, will portray
Peter in full costume to give a
"first-hand account” of what it
was like to be with Jesus and
encourage audience members
to "Let Jesus Shine in ‘09.”
According to church leaders, ser
mons will focus on “how to let
the light of Jesus shine through us
in the home, workplace, school
and church.” “During the dark
ness of tough economic time,
illness, disappointment, frustra
tion and grief, what we really
need is Jesus’ pure light to fill
us and shine through us,” Meek
said. Sunday services will begin
at 9:30 a.m. with Sunday school,
followed by the revival service
at 10:45 p.m. At noon there will
be a "Mission Meal” (dona
tions only), followed by family
fun activities from 1-2:30 p.m.
Evening services begin at 6 p.m.
Monday through Wednesday
services will be at 7 p.m. each
