COLBERT HOLDS FALL FESTIVAL
Colbert Elementary School held its annual fall festival Oct. 23.
“The festival was jam packed, and everyone had a great time,”
principal Billy Heaton said. The festival included games, prizes,
cotton candy, snow cones, hotdogs, pizza and a dunking booth.

hold fall carnival
Ila Elementary School will
hold a fall carnival from 6-8
p.m., Friday, Nov. 6, at the
school.
There will be "fun for the
whole family,” including games,
prizes, a moonwalk, hayride,
cake walk and hotdog supper.

MCHS BAND WINS SOUTHERN STATES CHAMPIONSHIP
The Madison County Red Raider band, under the direction of Nick Golding, went to the
USSBA Southern States Championship in Chattanooga, Tenn., Oct. 24. The band competed
against groups from Kentucky, Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama, winning the 2009 USSBA
Southern States Championship in Group II A. In addition to winning the overall class, the
band took top honors in the music, percussion, visual and overall effect captions. The band
has since been accepted into the 2009 USSBA National Championship and will travel to
Annapolis, Md., to compete for the Group IIA title.
