Theatre.
Happy Cal and his efficient band of Civil
Rightious deleniators appeared at our Thea
tre last evening to a well filled house, and
gave one of those real enjoyable minstrel
entertainments for which the company is
noted far and wide. The music both vocal
and instrumental was very fine, and the
jokes fresh and laughable. Cal Wagner is
undoubtedly the best antidote for the blues
that we ever saw, and as a negro deleniator
he has few equals and no superiors. “Oh
<lat Watermellon” and Down Whar de
Sugar Cane grows,” were finely redered by
Cal, and commanded frequent encores.
Sam Price occupies the other end of devil
ment and fun, and when the two extremes
{Cal and Sam) meet you are sure to have
a lively time. Sweet Genevieve by Haw
kins, the Mocking Bird imitation by Green,
and “There’s a Letter in the Candle” by
Murphy, were all very fine indeed. The
shetches too are the most amusing and
laughable we have seen. In fact the com
pany is good, and if you want to laugh and
■enjoy yourself go to he t heatre to-night.
See programme on first page.
Special Notice.
The Civil Rights Bill having passed both
the House and Senate ol our Misrepresenta
tives in Washington, D. C., we feel that it
is our duty as a public small sized
to set our red hot citizens an example in
obeying the afores id mandates from the
aforesaid headquarters. It’s all nonsense to
say that Useless wont sign the bill, for he is
a good obedient boy, and will do just as he
is told to do. Therefore, we beg to remind
our colored friend that on and after this date
that we will take a good paying advertise
ment from a colored trooper, (when paid in
advance, we make some white people do it,)
just as soon as anybody else. Marriage
notices we will publish at the low rate of sls
per line. Births $lO per line, and S2O extra
for the name, (in case of twins a liberal de
duction allowed,) and we beg to impress
upon their minds that we will publish all
colored funeral notices (at a very reduced
rate) with a great deal ol pleasure. Parties
handing in the notice must hand in the cash
as we collect no bills from dead men.
