Hosts Are
Sought For
Exchanges
International Education Forum,
an international non profit student
exchange program headquartered in
Bay Shore, New york, has
announced that John Smalley of
Bonaire has been named
Community Coordinator for the
Houston County school district and
surrounding communities. As
Community Coordinator, Smalley
will be seeking host families who
are interested in participating in
cultural exchange by hosting a high
school student from among 35
countries.
Smalley, a retired Air Force

officer, said the middle Georgia area
offers international students an
excellent opportunity to experience
American life at its best. "Our
schools are excellent, our culture is
rich, and we are close by many
attractions that symbolize
America", he said. In return, he
added the international students will
enhance our educational programs
by sharing their culture, language,
and knowledge with our teenagers.
Also, since most of our students
have never traveled and many
possibly never will, their only
exposure to cultures beyond our
borders may very well be the world
brought to them through cultural
exchange.
Families who host students may
earn up to a 20 percent scholarship
toward an IEF homestay abroad,
making summer travel for our
teenagers accessible.
Families desiring more
information about hosting a student
should call Smalley at 987-5389.
