PTC Gather
For Meeting
Approximately 150-175 Perry
Elementary School Parent-Teacher
Council (PTC) members and their
children met in the school cafeteria
Monday night, March 21 to hear
Principal Patsy Hutto explain plans
for the remainder of the year.
Dates and activities to remember
included:
•March 23-Picture Day
•April 2-Dogwood Parade
•April 4-8-Spring Break
•April 14-Third through fifth
grades Choral Program at Perry
High School at 7 p.m.
•April 25 - Math Workshop
•April 30-PTC BBQ

Parents were invited to visit class
rooms where teachers demonstrated
how they teach reading and writing
a news story from the story read,
letting the students give the high
points of the story, and spelling ev
ery word of their “news story".
Melanie Loggins and Tricia
Parker, kindergarten teachers at the
school, gave the demonstrations.
The children could "sound" the syl
lables, and spell the words. They
knew compound words, hyphen
ation and punctuation.

N. Y., and Mrs. Lloyd Berg of

The late Mr. Kicklighter was
formerly a partner in Akin-
Kicklighter Drug Co.in Perry and
his wife, Mrs. Caroline
Kicklighter, taught music and was
organist at Perry United Methodist
Church. The garden wedding is
planned for April 30 at the home of
the bride's parents.

The bride-elect is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lancaster of
Hawkinsville and the granddaughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dent and the

Lancaster. The groom elect is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Alton Dykes
and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs.
A. T. Dykes and Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Watson, all of Cochran. She is
employed by Meadowdale Learning
Center in Warner Robins and the
Houston County Board of
Education in Perry. He is a peace
officer with the Perry Police
Department. The wedding is
planned for May 14 at the First
United Methodist Church in
Hawkinsville.
