Meets every 2nd Monday of each
month at Perry High School at
7:30 p.m.
Houston Drug Action
Council (HODAC): A free
rape support group is now being
formed. The group will begin
meeting on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at
Houston Drug Action Council,
2762 Watson Blvd., Warner
Robins. (Next to Warner Robins
Supply) Those interested in attend
ing please call 953-5675.
American Legion, Robert D.
Collins Post 24 meets the first
Monday night of each month at the
County Ag Building at 733 Carroll
Street. Meals are served beginning
at 7 p.m. All American Legion
members are urged to attend and
visiting Legionaries are welcome.
Support Group in the
Perry area for caregivers of
persons with Alzheimers idsease or
related disorders such as dementi
Parkinsons, Picks disease,
depression and others will meet
through March on Thursday
evenings at 7 p.m. in the Medical
Library of the Perry Hospital.
Their goal is to make a difference in
the lives of people with Alzheimers
and their families. A booth will be
set up April 2nd during the
Dogwood Festival in downtown
Perry to distribute information on
Alzheimer’s and other disorders. A
Forum is scheduled for April 21.
All who are interested and concerned
are welcome to attend.
Houston County Retired
Teachers: Every 2nd Wednesday
of the month at 11:30 a.m. at the
Holiday Inn in Warner Robins.
The Perry Wilderness
Society meets at 6:30 p.m. on the
first Thursday of each month at the
Perry United Methodist Church lo
cated at 1001 Carroll Street in
Perry. Newcomers are welcome.
Tuesdays & Thursdays:
Step Aerobics from 6:30-8 p.m.
Sponsored by the Perry Recreation
Department. Saturdays from 9 a.m.
to 10:30 a.m. at the Perry High
School Cafeteria. Deborah Hamlin,
ACE Certified Instructor. 10 weeks
is S3O. This is an on-going
program.
Children’s Grief Support
Groups will begin the first week
in March for Children who have
lost a loved one to death. Groups
will meet according to ages from
Kindergarten and first grade through
teen years. These free groups will
meet for 6 weeks. Registration is
being accepted now. Call Emily
Dennis Hospice Bereavement
Services Coordinator for
information/registration at 922-
1777.
April 2: AUMC Easter
Egg Hunt will be held at 2418
Hwy 127 on Wednesday, April 2nd
from 2-4 p.m. Bring your own
basket. Light refreshments will be
provided. Ages 10 and under are
encouraged to come and join the
fun. Andrew United Methodist
Church.
April 5 & 9: Voter
Registration Drive hosted by
the NAACP will be held Tuesday,
April sth from 6-8 p.m. and
Saturday, April 9th from 12 noon
to 4 p.m. The drive will be held in
Perry at Kmart, Kmart Shopping
Center on Sam Nunn Blvd. and in
Warner Robins at Food Max, North
Houston Road.

Street" show being held In conjunction with the Dogwood Festival.

Beth Turner is just one of the
many crafters who will sell items at
the Arts and Crafts on Carroll
Street Saturday, April 2, in con
junction with the Perry Dogwood
Festival.
She came to Perry in 1990 when
she and Bob married, first living at
a Nancelon address and then to
moving to their present home on
Northside Road in October 1993.
Bob was elected in 1990 as
Solicitor of Houston County and
will offer for reflection this year.

She started sewing at an early age.
Her grandmother was a home eco
nomics teacher and taught Beth's
mother to sew, who in turn, taught
Beth to sew.
Beth's grandfather died quite young
and her widowed grandmother put
five children through college with
her sewing.

completion of a special order, de
pending on the amount of work to
be done on the garment.

them as she sees them, takes them
home and works her magic on them

Christian elected president of organization
James Christian, formerly of
Perry, has been elected President of
Coastal Carolina Mensa. James is
the son of Mrs. Louise Christian of
Perry. Coastal Carolina Mensa has
one hundred and sixty members, in
the area from Charleston to North
Myrtle Beach. James will serve a
one year term, starting May Ist.
This is the third local office James
has held.
A Registered Electrical
Inspector, with a Charleston
engineering firm, James attends
classes at the College of Charleston
and the Citadel, working toward
double majors in Electrical
Engineering and Business
Communication.
Mensa is an international society
in which the sole requirement for
membership is a score at or above
the 98th percentile on any of a
number of standard IQ tests. A not
