area duplex
BY BRENDA THOMPSON
Staff Writer
Two Perry families are looking
for new places to live this week
after a Friday morning fire gutted
one side of a rental duplex and
wreaked smoke and water damage
on the other.
According to Perry Fire Chief
Gary Hamlin, an altered cord
feeding into a space heater is
believed to have started the blaze at
1103-B Broad Street
A friend of Eugene Napier, the
tenant in 1103-B, was home at the
time of the fire and called the fire
department at 11:12 a.m. after
smelling smoke.
Hamlin says his department
responded within two minutes of
the call, but that the side in which
the fire started was fully engulfed in

The pride of Middle Georgia.
That’s what several area residents
have said they feel about Robins
Air Force Base. Now, they can
display that pride wherever they go.
A license plate, similar to the
Georgia state issued plates but
dawning the Team Robins emblem,
is available on base and at area
locations.
The emblem, showing the four
aircraft serviced here-the F-15, C
-130, C-141 and the MH 53 Pave
Low Helicopter-jetting from the
symbol of the state of Georgia,
accompanied by a blue ribbon
carrying the theme, Team Robins
and applauding the base's
community ties with the kicker
Partners in Logistics along the
bottom, encapsulates the spirit of
base officials' appreciation for
community support and dedication.
The plate, which costs $5, is
available on base at the Skills
Development Center, base
restaurant, Information, Tickets and
Tours office in the Smith
Community Center anu the
Museum of Aviation.
Thanks to the Middle Georgia
Military Affairs Committee, plates
are available for purchase off base at
the various Middle Georgia
chambers of commerce.
