Lassiter to be inducted into local golf HOF

Lassiter will be inducted into the
Houston County Hall of Fame at
its banquet Saturday, May 28.
James M. Rich and William
Sundquist will also be honored with
SI,OOO scholarships from the hall
of fame. The banquet will take
place at the Warner Robins Officer's
Club, starting at 7:30 p.m., with
tickets on sale for $25 each.

The Perry A's powered past the
Macon Angels in semi-pro action
Sunday 18-6 on the first day of the
season.
All nine starters for the A's con
nected with hits, as Perry pounded
Macon pitching for 16 hits on the
Maroon and Gold camp scheduled
The Maroon and Gold Basketball
Camp will be held in June and
July, announced Perry High School
head basketball coach Carl Thomas.
Thomas said the camp will have
three sessions. The first session
will be for males entering grades 6-
8, and will take place June 9,10,13
and 14. The second session will be
held from June 27-30 for males and
females entering grades 3, 4 and 5.
The final session will take place
July 11-14, for females entering
grades 6,7 and 8.
Each day will start at 9 a.m. and
last until 2 p.m. at Perry High
School Gymnasium.
Camp staff will include Thomas,
Max Vickers, head women's bas
ketball coach at Perry High, and
Darryl Albritton, assistant basket
ball coach at Perry. There will also
be skills demonsuations by current
and former Perry High School ath
letes.

was the foursome of Matt Ratliff,
David Kennedy, Van Sexton and
Eddie Wilson. Two strokes back
were Sharon Persons, Ogden Per
sons, Richard Home and Fran
of Fame golf tournament, which
raises money for the scholarship
program. This year, the tournament
will be played at Pine Oaks Golf
Course at Robins Air Force Base.
The tournament is a four player
event. Entry into the tournament is
S2OO per team, or SSO per individ
ual.
"We'll take care of finding a team
for any player who is not already
placed on one," said tournament
afternoon. Raynaid Soloman led the
Perry hit attack, collecting four
hits, including two dingers, and
four RBIs. James Scott also had a
big day at the plate for the A’s, get
ting three hits in four trips to the
plate.
William West and Nate Tharpe

first inning hold up, as he scattered
six hits for the win. Only two of
the six runs scored by the Angels
were earned, as Ragin, 1-0, walked
five and struck out 12.
