Smith, Jones announce engagement;
Wedding to be Oct. 8 in Marshallville
Lieutenant Colonel (USAF,
Retired) and Mrs. James L. Smith
of Perry announce the engagement
of their daughter, Aimee Louise
Smith, to Randall Derrick Jones of
Warner Robins, son of Mr. Wesley
F. Jones and the late Mrs. Margaret
Grissom Ham of Marshallville.
The wedding is planned for October
8 at Marshallville United Methodist
Church.
The bride-elect is the
granddaughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Paul R. McElroy of
Columbus, Ohio, and the late Mr.
and Mrs. William Henry Owen
Smith of Nahunta. A first-honor
graduate of the Westfield Schools,
and a magna cum laude graduate of
the University of Georgia, she
received a Bachelor of Arts degree in
psychology. She was a member of
Alpha Lambda Delta, Psi Chi
national honor society in
psychology, and the national honor
societies of Golden Key, Phi Kappa
Phi and Phi Beta Kappa. She
received a Master of Science degree
in psychology from Georgia
College and was a charter member
of Psi Chi. She is a psychometrist
with the Applied Psychology
Center in Warner Robins.
The groom-elect is the grandson
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward C.
Grissom, Jr. of Kissimmee, Fla.
and the late Mr. and Mrs. Wessie S.
Jones of Marshallville. A graduate
of the Westfield Schools, he
attended Abraham Baldwin
Agricultural College and graduated
from Gupton-Jones College of
Funeral Service where he was a

Aug. 27 at local church
The children of Rev. and Mrs. J.
J. (Ilene) Morrow will be hosting a
reception in honor of their 50th
wedding anniversary on Saturday,
August 27, 1994 from 2 p.m. until
5 p.m. in the fellowship hall at
Houston Lake Baptist Church in
Perry. A money tree will be
provided. All friends and relatives
are invited to attend.

"Give Me A 'W..."
More than 20 members of the Westfield varsity and junior varsity cheerleading
squads attended a cheerleading camp Aug. 8-13. The camp, conducted by the
Eastern Cheerleaders Association, taught the girls sideline cheers, chants and
dances. The two groups are sponsored this year by Mrs. Jean Floyd. The varsity
squad will get to try out their cheers in front of a large following of Westfield fans
this Friday night when they travel to Macon with the school's grid team. (HTJ photo

celebrate his first birthday on
Monday, Aug. 28. Kyle is the son
of Aretha and Kenneth Littles of
Perry. His grandparents are Mr. and
Mrs. Herbert Littles of Brewton,
Ala., and Mrs. Perlene Mitchell of
Coffeeville, Ala.
Forchette's celebrate 'Golden'
anniversary with family, friends

Donald G. and Estelle Forchette
of Pine Place celebrated their 50th
Wedding Anniversary this past
weekend.
Their sons, Mark, in Atlanta,
Donald in Ft. Lupton, Colo., and
Mike, in Detroit, arranged for
several events for their parents to
which 80-100 people from
California, New York, Colorado,
Florida and Switzerland came.
They have three sons, their
wives, and five granddaughters.
On Friday, August 12, the
family and out-of-town guests met
at the Forchette home in Perry for
cocktails and a cook-out.
On Saturday evening, August
13, they attended a cocktail party
buffet at 7:30 p.m. at the Officers
Club at Robins Air Force Base.
On Sunday, August 14, they
enjoyed a brunch at the Forchette
home in Perry and attended mass at
St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Donald, the oldest son, a
graduate of Auburn University,
taught at Perry High School, and
Mims 'Miss Congeniality* in WR Pageant
Two local students were
entered in the "Miss Warner
Robins 1995” pageant held
Saturday in the Warner Robins
Civic Center.
Shiranda Mims, Miss Perry
High School, daughter of George
and Rutha Mims, Rt. 1,
Hawkinsville, sang “Prickle Pear
Bloom” in the contest. She is

printed in error. The correct recipe
is printed below. We apologize for
any inconvenience the error may
have caused.
CHEESECAKE
(This is the most festive dessert and
very elegant. The taste of this
cheesecake is truly delightful.)
Use 9 1/2-inch springform pan.
Crust - 1 1/4 cups crushed graham
cracker crumbs
4 Tbls melted butter
2 Tbls sugar
Mix and press into bottom of pan.
Filling - 3 8-ounce cream cheese
packages (room temp.)
3 eggs (room temp.)
1 cup sugar
2 1/2 tsp vanilla
Mix and pour onto crust. Bake 35
minutes at 350 degrees F. Place
into refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Mix 3 pints sour cream, 6 Tbls
sugar and 2 tsp vanilla. Pour onto
cheesecake and bake 5 minutes at
350 degrees F.
Topping - 2 10-ounce frozen
raspberries
2 Tbls cornstarch
4 Tbls sugar
Cook until thick and cool and top
cheesecake.
Can also use canned pie filling for
topping.

wife Jacque (Wissler), have four
daughters Jo Ada, Malyka, Liberty
and Justice.
Michael (Mike), the middle son,
a graduate of Perry High School and
Auburn University, is a petty
officer in the U. S. Coast Guard,
stationed at Selfridge ANGB, in
Detroit, Mich., with his wife Susan
(Bloodworth), daughter of Homer
and Betty Bloodworth of Perry.
Mark, the youngest son, also a
graduate of Perry High School and
Auburn University, is vice
president of Grieshaber-Switzerland,
maker of surgical instruments, with
offices in Kennesaw, Ga. He
played football and guitar during his
school years. He and his wife,
Addie Marie (Ossi) of Marietta,
Ga., have one daughter, Alexis
Marie.
The honorees, Don and Estelle,
were married August 12, 1944., at
St. Rose of Lucia Catholic Church
in Audubon, New Jersey. They
have lived in Perry since 1970. He
is a retired Major in the U. S.
attending Valdosta State and
majoring in Theatre. She was
named Miss Congeniality. Jenny
McClintic, also of the Perry
area, did interpretive signing to
the song “God Bless the U.S.A.”
She is a graduate of Georgia
Southwestern College and
teaches sixth grade in an Atlanta
school.

Pilot Club planning second
annual Nov. fashion show
The Pilot Club of Perry has
begun preparation for its second
annual Holiday Fashion Show and
Dessert. Billed to be a more
elaborate holiday festivity than last
year’s affair, the time is set for
Thursday evening, November 17, at
7:30 p.m.
The Northrop Corporation, 200
Army.
Out-of-town guests, along with
many friends and relatives, attended
the celebration. Out-of-town guests

Thompson graduates
from Ok. university
Phillip J. Thompson will
receive a degree this summer on the
University of Oklahoma Norman
campus.
Thompson will be eligible to
participate in May commencement
ceremonies.
The graduate is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Juan Thompson of Perry.
