Danny Gene Adkins
MARSHALLVILLE-Danny Gene Adkins, 39, of Marshallville died
Monday, August 22, 1994 in the Flint River Community Hospital. Bom
in Orlando, Fla., he was the son of Massee J. Adkins and Mrs. Virginia
Scarbrough Knight. Mr. Adkins had lived in Marshallville for the past 4
years moving from Perry. Survivors: wife, Mrs. Debra Sue Peavy
Adkins of Marshallville; children, Bridget Adkins aand Robert Adkins,
both of Marshallville; mother and father, Mrs. Virginia Scarbrough Knight
of Kissimmee, Fla. and Mr. Massee J. Adkins of Milledgeville; two
brothers, O.C. Julis of Lakeland, Fla. and Robbie Rader of Orlando; three
sisters, Mrs. Brenda Brown of Leesburg, Mrs. Wanda Yawn and Marie
Adkins, both of Cordele; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services: Will be held Wednesday, August 24, 1994 in the Chapel
of Watson-Mathews Funeral Home at 11 a.m. The Rev. Wayne Foredham
will officiate. Burial will be in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in
Unadilla.
Cager Shockley
GREENBRIER, ARK.-Cager Shockley, 57, of Greenbrier, Arkansas,
died on Friday, August 12, 1994 in the St. Mary’s Medical Center in
Duluth, Minn. Bom in Red Boiling Springs, Tenn., he was the son of
Fenley Shockley and Eula (Raines) Shockley. Mr. Shockley was self
employed in construction. Survivors: two daughters, Teresa lynn
Shockley and Karen Sue Altman, both of Florida; mother, Eula Shockley
Wright of Kokomo; two brothers, Virgil Paul Shockley of Indianapolis,
In. and Dan Shockley of Kokomo; seven sisters, Velma Bennett of
Pensacola, Fla., Bonnie White of Liberty, Tex., Barbara Ruth Brake of
McDavid, Fla., Matilda Mathies of Century, Fla., Anna Sue West of
Athens, Mattie Smouse of Spring Hill, Fla. and Joy Albright of Perry;
four step-brothers, Ken Wright of California, Doughias Wright of Texas,
Homer Wright of New Jersey, Robert Wright of Georgia; five
grandchildren; and a devoted companion of 18 years, Betty Daughtery. He
is preceded in death by his father, Fenley Shockley and brother, Jessie
Shockley.
Services: Were held Tuesday, August 16, 1994 at the Fenn and
Shirley Mortuary, France Colonial Chapel at 1 p.m. with the Rev. James
Ball officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the American
Heart Association.

Michael Froehllch, executive director of the Georgia
National Fairgrounds and Agricenter, poses with
present and past mascots of the Georgia National Fair,
the famed American Black Bear. The bear on the right
was officially unveiled Monday at the fairgrounds, while
the other has been a permanent fixture at the grounds
for the past few years. Froehllch said the ’Fair Bear will
be walking around greeting visitors throughout the ’94
Georgia National Fair. The mascot’s costume was
designed by Cowan Costumes, Inc. of Cleburne, Tx.,
the same company that makes several of Walt Disney

The Houston County Board of Commissioners have declared surplus
to their needs several passenger cars, trucks, and miscellaneous
equipment, including adding machines, chairs, refrigerator, camera,
word processing machine, copiers, tables, bicycles, lawn mowers, etc.
These vehicles and equipment will be sold at PUBLIC AUCTION at
the HOUSTON COUNTY WAREHOUSE, 2018 Kings Chapel Road,
Perry, Georgia, 31069, on Tuesday, September 13, 1994 at 1:00 p.m.
Anyone desiring to inspect said vehicles and equipment or obtain
additional information may do so by contacting the Houston County
Purchasing Department, 2018 Kings Chapel Road, Perry, Georgia,
31069, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through
Friday or by calling (912) 987-1880.
