Mr. and Mrs. Jason Lanier Howell
Calhoun, Howell unite
in Aug. 20 ceremony
Tina Marie Calhoun of Perry and
Jason Lanier Howell of Perry were
married on Saturday, August 20,
1994 at 6 p.m. in the Houston
Lake Baptist Church.
Tina is the daughter of Marlon
and Sandra Arnold of Perry. Jason
is the son of Lynn and Debbie
Howell of Bonaire.
Brother A.C. Trueluck officiated
the ceremony. Wedding music was
provided by Terry Clopton, organ,
Stephanie McMillan, piano,
Marlon Arnold provided the song,
“I Cross My Heart”, while Michelle
McMillan and Jennifer Collier sang
“The Lord’s Prayer”.
The bridal gown was white silk,
high lace neckline with pearls,
bodice was pearls and lace, with
lace sleeves, long with a long
flowing train. Southern Bell style
with hoop under dress. The bridal
veil was medium length with silk
Rainey, wife make president's list
Shannon and wife, Ginger
Tribble Rainey, made the
President’s List with a 4.0 average
for the winter and spring quariers at
Ga. Southwestern College in
Americus.
Shannon also received an award
in math for the highest average in
the Freshman Class, for the whole
college. He also made the
President’s list for the summer
quarter with a 4.0 average.
Ginger is now working at the
Crossroads Bank, and is attending
Middle Georgia Technical Institute
in Warner Robins to further her

Sandra (Sandy) Michelle Scruggs
Sirmans received her Master of
Education Degree in Speech and
Language Pathology from Valdosta
State College in graduation
ceremonies held on Saturday,
August 20, 1994. at the college.
Her parents, Diane and Ronnie
Scruggs of Perry, attended.
Thompson gets degree from Oklahoma school
Phillip Thompson received his
master’s degree in economics from
Oklahoma University, through the
Education Program at Offutt Air
Force Base at Omaha, Nebraska.
Graduation exercises were held at
Offutt where Thompson and his
wife, the former Tracey Willard of
Perry, live, where
Thompson has also been
promoted to Ist lieutenant in a
special ceremony.
He is the son of Phyllis and
Juan Thompson of Perry. He has
two sisters, Dawn Distin of
Savannah, Ga. and April Carter of
Wavcross, Ga.
His motner attended both the
graduation and promotion
white small flowers and pearls.
She had a large white bouquet (silk)
with a few wine colored rose buds,
there was white lace, white pearls
and white wine ribbon.
Bridesmaids were Tennille
Weatherford and April Chambers,
both of Perry. Flower girl was
Kourtney Howell.
Best Man was Jim Weaver.
Groomsmen were Jamie Newby and
David Maye. Ushers were Nick
Howell and Tripp Marath.
The reception was held at The
Houston Lake Baptist Church
hosted by Debbee Arnold and
Tiffany. Servers were Michelle
McMillan, Jennifer Collier and
Brenda Walton. A rehearsal dinner
was held at Gregg’s Mexican
Restaurant hosted by Debbie
Weaver and Pat Weaver.
The newlyweds will reside in
Perry.

He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs.
Robert D. Rainey, Mrs. Sara W.
Horton, and Herschel D. Lawhorn.
He is also the great-grandson of

B. Lawhorn.
Ginger is the daughter of Rev.
and Mrs. George Tribble of Warner
Robins, and is the granddaughter of
Mr. and Mrs. George Tribble Sr. of
Tucson, Arizona and Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Warriner of Pineola, N.C.
Sirmans received the Bachelor of
Arts Degree in Speech last year
from the same college. She is a
graduate of Perry High School, and
is now employed by the Rockdale
County School System.
Sandy and her husband, Jay
Sirmans, a native of Lake Park,
Ga., live in Conyers, Ga.

Webb, Bogue united in beautiful May
ceremony at Vineville Presbyterian
Sandra P. Webb of Warner
Robins and Rodney J. Bogue of
Warner Robins were married on
Saturday, May 28, 1994 in the
Vineville Presbyterian Church in
Macon.
Sandy is the daughter of Ms.
Mary Nunley of Warner Robins and
Mr. James G. Webb of Macon.
Rodney is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Pitts of Perry and Jim R.
Bogue of Warner Robins.
Pastor Charley Chase of Macon
and Rev. Randy D. Webb, brother
of the bride of Charlotte, N.C.,
officiated the wedding.

daughter, Gwendolyn Evon Terry to
Kirkland Lejune Smith, the son of
Beulah Smith and the late Otha

The bride-elect is the
granddaughter of Gertrude Cotton of
Stone Mountain, Ga. and the late
Mack Cotton and Mr. and Mrs.
William D. Terry of Philadelphia,
Pa., and the late Zollie Harris.
Terry is a 1983 graduate of
Macon County High School and a
1987 graduate of South Georgia
Technical Institute where she
received a diploma in Office
Education. She is employed at
Wachovia Bank as a customer
service representative.

of the late Ulysses and Bessie Davis
of Perry, Ga. and the late Oscar and
Corene Smith of Marshallville, Ga.

Collegiate Certificates
In addition to the HOPE Scholarship Program, Macon College
offers HOPE Grants of up to $387 per quarter for students who enroll
in one of nine certificate programs. For the 1994-95 academic
year, the Grant covers tuition and fees and is supplemented by a
textbook allowance of up to SIOO for students enrolled for six hours
or more. Students may begin day or evening classes on a full- or
part-time basis.
Certificate programs at Macon College represent 45 to 50 credit
hours of college coursework focused on a specific career field.
Depending on the program selected, ail or most of the credit
earned may be applied to an Associate or Bachelor's degree pro
gram should the student choose to continue his or her education.
