Death notices
Norman M. Parker Jr.
Norman M. Parker Jr., 74, of
1321 Georgia Ave., died Sunday,
Oct. 23, 1994 at his residence. A
native of Talbot County, he had
lived here most of his life. He was
a member of The Perry United
Methodist Church where he was a
member of the Men's Bible Class
and had been an Usher for 35 years.
He was an Army World War II
veteran and was a retired co-owner
of Union Motor Co. Survivors:
wife, Helen Parker of Perry; son,
Norman M. Parker 111 of Douglas,
Ga.; grandchildren, Norman Parker
IV of Lagrange, Pamela Rushing of
Baxley and Wendi McDaniel of
Sulphur Springs, Tx.; and three
great-grandchildren.
Services: Were held at The
Perry United Methodist Church
Alma Parker Gray
Alma Parker Gray, 70, of 200
Charity Ave. Box A-15, died
Tuesday, Oct. 11, 1994 at her
residence. Bom in Alabama, she
was the daughter of the late Brittan
H. and Alice May Tingle Parker.
After 26 years of service, Alma
retired from Payroll Division at the
Naval Air Station in Norfolk, Va.
She received numerous awards for
outstanding service. A beloved
humanitarian, she as an active and
dedicated life-long member of The
Christ's Sanctified Holy Church.
She moved to Perry in 1976 from
Charleston, S.C., and headed the
landscaping beautification
committee of the church’s
campground and The Church Home
of the Aged. She is preceeded in
death by her husband, William C.
Gray. Survivors: three sisters,
Margarete P. Call and Alice P.
Gray, both of Perry and Inez P.
Hagan of Charleston, S.C.; nieces
and nephews, Joan Curry, Jeanette
Collins and Steve Gray, all of
Raleigh, N.C., Willie Hagan Jr.
and Bob Call Jr., both of
Annie Mae McConnell
CUMMINGS-Annie Mae
McConnell, 75, of Cummings,
Ga., died Sunday, Oct. 23, 1994
after an extended illness. Born in
Forsyth County, she lived in Hall
County for a number of years. She
was a housewife and a member of
Seventh Day Adventise Church.
Survivors: two sons and
daughters-in-law, Dale and Carol
McConnell of Perry and Elvin and
Patricia McConnell of
Dawsonville; a daughter and son
in-law, Mattie and Danny Freeland
of Cummings, Ga.; two brothers,
Cliff Whitlow of Houschton, Ga.
and William Whitlow of
Gainesville; sister, Lois
Brookshire of Gainesville; and Five
grandchildren.
Services: Were held at a later
date.
Jonathan McConnell
CUMMINGS- Jonathan
McConnell, 78, of Cummings, died
Saturday, Oct. 22, 1994 at the
Northeast Georgia Medical Center
after an extended illness. Bom in
Michigan, he had lived in Hall
County for a number of years Mr.
McConnell was a retired school
teacher of the Forsyth County
School. He was also a member of
the Seventh Day Adventise Church.
He is the widower of Annie Mae
McConnell. Survivors: two
sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and
Carol McConnell of Perry and

took place in the Evergreen
Cemetery.

Obie Call, Bryan Call, Britt Call,
Geoffrey Call, Benjamin Curry,
Jason Grooms and Jay Williams.
Services: Were held Saturday,
Oct. 15, 1994 in the Christ's
Sanctified Holy Church at 2 p.m.
The Revs. Floyd Hagan and Steve
Gray officiated. Burial took place
in the Christ's Sanctified Holy
Church Cemetery in Perry
Elvin and Patricia McConnell of
Dawsonville; daughter and son-in
law, Mattie and Danny Freeland of
Cummings; sister Flora Petty of
Bubleson, Tex.; brother, David
McConnell of Lacey Springs, Ga.;
and five grandchildren.
Services: Were held Monday,
Oct. 24, 1994 at the Memorial Park
Funeral Home Chapel at 3 p.m.
The Memorial Park Funeral Home
in Gainesville had charge of
arrangements.

Churches in the Perry area plan numerous activities
Pancake breakfast set Sunday
Join Crossroads United
Methodist Church, 1600 Main
Street, for pancakes, etc., on
Sunday, Oct. 30.
Serving time for the pancakes is
8:30-10:15 a..m. Cost is $2 for
adults, $1 for children ages 6-12,
and free for children under age
six. Make reservations by
Wednesday, Oct. 26, by calling the
church office.
Proceeds will go toward the pur
chase of a cooker/grill. You will
have time to eat at Crossroads—
time changes on that day.
Church plans revival this week
Perry Free Will Baptist Church,
1964 Marshallville Rd., is in
Revival Oct. 28-30. Services start
at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and
Saturday, and 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.
on Sunday.
The church is located one-half
mile from 1-75 (Exit 42), and one
half mile from General Courtney
Hodges Boulevard.
Rev. Royce Horne from
Memphis Tenn. will be the evan
gelist.
Pastor, Rev. Charles McNeese
and the congregation invite all to
attend. A nursery will be provided.

Kid's Halloween party is Mon.
On Monday, Oct. 31, 5:30 - 7
p.m., a Children’s Halloween Party
will be held in the Fellowship Hall
for ages two years-old to the fifth
grade. The party will include a
snack supper, games, stories, cos
tume parade and judging. Bring
canned goods for Loaves and
Fishes. RSVP at church office

First Baptist slates 'Hallelujah'
On Monday Oct. 31, from 6-8
p.m., Perry First Baptist Church
will have their seventh annual
Hallelujah Party. This is a
Christian alternative to Halloween
for children, age four through the
sixth grade.
They are to come dressed as a fa
vorite Bible character or in casual
clothing.
Hot dogs will be served in the
Fellowship Hall at 6 p.m. at no
charge. There will be games,
treats, and lots of fun.
Preschool care will be provided
for children of workers (babies - 3
year olds). Other preschool children
are invited to share in the activities;
but, they must lie accompanied by a
parent.
Youngsters set fund-raiser
The youth group of Houston
Lake Baptist Church is having a
potato bar fund-raiser on Sunday,
Oct. 30, following the evening ser
vice.
On Saturday, Oct. 29, there will
be a Brotherhood/WMU sponsored
chicken supper in the fellowship
Hall at 6 p.m. All are welcome!
Donations are not necessary, but
will be accepted, if you wish to do
nate. Please notify Karen
Batchelor, Rickey Batchelor or
Brenda Walton no later than Oct.
26, if you plan to join in the fun.
Crossroads cookbood arrives
